Primary Job Title: Assistant Construction Manager Alternate/Related Job Titles: Assistant Project Manager - Construction Construction Project Coordinator EPC Assistant Construction Manager Field Project Coordinator Assistant Site Manager Location: Conshohocken, PA Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid (Approximately 80% office / 20% field; on-site support required) Contract Details (Contract roles only): Position Type: Contract Contract Duration: 9 Months Start: As Soon As Possible Pay Rate: $55 - $66/hr Job Summary: The Assistant Construction Manager will support project initiation, scope development, and execution planning while coordinating across Engineering, Client Stakeholders, and functional teams. This role plays a key part in ensuring constructability, cost control, schedule adherence, and compliance across infrastructure construction projects. The position requires strong collaboration, financial oversight, and field engagement, with an 80/20 office-to-field split to support constructability reviews, walkdowns, and on-site client meetings. Key Responsibilities: Vet the initial project scope and develop a detailed project work plan from initiation in coordination with Engineering and Client stakeholders Refine scope requirements and incorporate constructability considerations into execution plans Coordinate environmental and non-environmental permitting and rights acquisition requirements Develop RFP packages including scopes of work, baseline schedules, and permitting documentation Evaluate contractor bids and recommend awards to the Client Facilitate pre-construction and ongoing progress meetings Drive schedule and construction progress, frequently on-site Support the development of baseline schedules, cost estimates, and budget forecasts Meet regularly with the scheduler to update and maintain detailed P6 schedules Maintain accountability for project budget and financial forecast updates Utilize client systems for financial updates, contract management, and documentation Report regularly to Lead Project Manager and Client on schedule, cost metrics, procurement, safety, environmental concerns, and design issues Maintain clear communication between the project site, the office, and the clients Required Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred Experience in Electric Utilities Transmission, Distribution, or Substation construction project management preferred Experience managing cross-functional coordination, cost control, and schedule management Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to travel within 1-3 hour radius Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving standards Nice-to-Have Experience: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification Professional Engineering (PE) designation Experience with Primavera P6 scheduling Required Skills: Scope development and execution planning Construction schedule management Cost control and financial forecasting RFP preparation and contractor bid evaluation Stakeholder coordination and reporting Preferred Skills: Constructability review Permit coordination and rights acquisition Contract management and documentation control Infrastructure project support Risk identification and mitigation Additional Skills: Baseline schedule development On-site progress monitoring Client system navigation Procurement tracking Safety and environmental compliance coordination Benefits: Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans 401k Retirement Fund About the Client: Infrastructure Engineering Firm designing and building essential infrastructure for cities.
