We're looking for a Civil Engineer in Training to bring fresh ideas, innovative solutions, and a drive for excellence to our dynamic team! The purpose of this position is to assist the Capital Improvement Projects team with managing project development and implementation of Capital Improvement Projects. Projects include roadways, storm drainage, water, elevated and ground storage tanks, pump stations, lift stations and wastewater systems. This position is also responsible for assisting with managing consultant contracts, and consultant work activities. Other duties include attending meetings, coordinating work efforts and courteous interaction with public, private and City staff. Essential Job Functions Reviews engineering plans to verify if they meet City standards, specifications, and policies; and coordinate the review of the plans with other City departments for their input in the review. Assist with coordination acquisition of right-of-way deeds and easements by securing field data from survey crew; identifying the right- of-way needed; reviewing metes and bounds descriptions; and submitting documents to the right-of-way agent to be acquired. Assist with project Management and coordination for capital improvement projects including design, scope of work, cost estimating, contract administration, franchise utility coordination, budgets, and schedules. Analyzes and interacts with various City departments on the intent of the capital improvement project and project scope. Provides citizen assistance by answering citizen questions by phone or in person; and performing occasional site visits. Assist with the reviews, development, and scope for design and construction contracts between the City, consultants, and contractors. Manage consultants and contractors work through the development of project requirements including project strategies, budget, schedule, franchise utility coordination, land acquisitions, permitting requirements and compliance with City policies, procedures, design and construction standards, regulations, and codes. Assist with requests, evaluates, negotiates, and management of consultant proposals, sets project schedules, design review elements, agency coordination, owner reviews, regulatory agency compliance, budgeting considerations in accordance with appropriate engineering standards. Assist CIP Project Manager and/or Senior Project Manager with providing technical advice and assistance to other City departments, engineers, architects, and contractors for conformance with City policies and guidelines. Facilitates complaint and problem resolution. All other duties as assigned by a supervisor/manager within your department/division. Regular and dependable attendance is required. Minimum Qualifications Education: a graduate of an engineering program or related science curriculum approved by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers. For Bachelor's degrees from a curriculum not approved by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers, an evaluation by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) is required. Experience: Over three years. This time may be made up of a combination of assisting a professor with research, undergraduate capstone projects related to civil engineering, internships, and general work experience. Licenses: Valid Texas Class C Driver's License Certifications Required: Texas Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate (or ability to get within 12 months) and Certified Floodplain Manager (or ability to get within 12 months) 01 Do you have a bachelor/masters degree in an engineering program or related science curriculum approved by the TexasBoard of Professional Engineers?
