You will be the main liaison, approving designs, mentoring engineers, and fostering strong client relationships. Strategic Impact: Power enhancement initiatives are rapidly becoming a cornerstone of U.S. energy policy, fueled by legislation aimed at expediting clean energy deployment. This role places you in the midst of this transformation, where power enhancements stand as the most efficient method to increase nuclear power output. Career Growth: With the U.S. targeting a fourfold expansion in nuclear capacity—from ~100 GW today to 400 GW by 2050—power enhancements are projected to contribute approximately 8 GW. As the industry shifts focus to designing and constructing new reactors, including advanced and small modular reactor technologies, this role prepares you for an exciting future in nuclear development. Leadership & Management: Act as the primary contact for management, project managers, and other internal stakeholders. Direct and assign work to maintain balance between workgroups and individuals, approve timesheets and expense reports, conduct annual performance appraisals, and assist in recruiting new employees. Quality Control & Technical Oversight: Oversee your unit's quality; establish and enforce quality standards via Lead Engineers. Certify design documents as necessary by state and local regulations. Offer technical guidance to resolve issues based on your expertise or by consulting with subject matter experts. Project Management & Client Relations: Collaborate with project managers to ensure your unit meets budget and schedule commitments for assigned projects. Approve engineering documents produced by the unit and lead proposal preparation with input on scope and budget. Develop strong professional relationships with clients and assist in marketing the unit's capabilities. Staff Development & Performance: Provide timely and constructive performance feedback, fostering professional development among staff through mentoring, certifications, and training opportunities. Administrative Support: Support company policies and procedures, and maintain short- and long-term staffing plans based on project forecasts. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. A minimum of 6 years of design engineering experience in power generation or nuclear power, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Professional Engineering License is mandated. Advanced knowledge of relevant codes and standards. Exceptional writing, presentation, and communication skills. A proven ability to motivate teams and achieve objectives through positive leadership. Demonstrated experience with high-level decision-making and oversight of technical work. Capability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant. Willingness to travel 15 - 25% of the time to client sites, with expectations to travel at least once monthly for meetings. Pay Range USD $130,000.00 - USD $180,000.00/Yr.
