Plant EHS ManagerJob Description The Plant EHS Manager will provide leadership in all aspects of training and environmental, health and safety systems by supporting, developing, implementing and monitoring processes as they relate to said operations. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent 5-7 years EHS experience; coaching others to success; MS Office Suite; Experience in organization safety programs Preferred Qualifications Some post-secondary education; Associate's or Bachelor's degree; or equivalent experience Progressive leadership experience, influencing positive behavior change OSHA 30 Hour; Behavior based safety certification; Air emission certification Job-Specific Knowledge and Skills Excellent understanding of housekeeping and safety principles; meticulous attention to detail and ability to research and solve problems; ability to present positive communications to departmental employees; communication, coaching, counseling and influencing skills are essential; impeccable example of EHS integrity; flexibility in working hours so as to be available when needed; OSHA knowledge will be an advantage; ability to audit, communicate findings, and implement counter-measures, and ensure success of EHS initiatives. Key ResponsibilitiesLead behavior-based safety and compliance initiatives according to company expectations and government regulations to ensure a safe, aware, responsive and compliant work environment Develop, implement, maintain, monitor and coordinate key training initiatives including required safety training as required by business strategies to insure a safe, aware, responsive and compliant workforce Lead, facilitate and participate when appropriate in continuous improvement initiatives including accident investigations, root cause analysis of incidents, and safety aspects of new processes or equipment according to company expectations to ensure continuous improvement in our production, safety and environmental processes Foster an environment where employees will willingly make extra effort to exceed safety, health and environmental goals/initiatives and look for opportunities to improve our processes to develop a lean, responsive and knowledgeable workforce Develop, implement, collect samples, audit and assist outside contractors with adherence to all applicable environmental internal and governmental regulations for air, wastewater, hazardous waste, storm water, according to industry standards to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations Apply and provide accountability of all safety rules, participation in safety practices, LOTO standards and wearing PPE according to company standards and government regulations in order to facilitate a safe working environment. Partner with management, supervision, and employees with communication and compliance of company strategic initiatives Communication & Relationships Internal - All Employees: Influencing and coaching for personal development regarding safe work practices and behavior; conducting effective training on various safety, health and environmental topics; listening to feedback Internal - Management: Explaining information regarding safety incidents or accidents, compliance to regulations, safety initiative and efforts, needs and culture conditions External - Other Matalco Plant Locations: Sharing best practice information regarding health, safety and environmental processes or issues External - Vendor/Partners: Explaining project, audit or monitoring needs; coordinate outside vendor training or work as needed Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Normal office environment approximately 50% of the time; Low frequency lifting up to 50 lbs.; physical demands include low frequency lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, walking and climbing over 4 feet. High frequency of visual and audio monitoring of processes. High frequency of visual monitoring auditing of safety and environmental processes. High frequency data entry of necessary information. Could be exposed to outside conditions year-round; Low frequent exposure to molten metal at temperatures reaching 1300 degrees F. Low frequent exposure to extreme ambient temperatures depending on the season. Low frequent exposure to overhead loads, confined space, loud noise and dust.
