License: Must have valid state license. Certifications: BLS must be certified through American Heart Association only. Must-Have: Strong skills in cardiac and thoracic procedures including ECMO, CABG, LVAD, and thoracic robotic surgery. Description: The Surgical Technologist prepares the Operating Room prior to surgery. Promotes the safety of the patient during surgery. Provides assistance to the surgeon during surgery. Cares for the patient during surgery and handles instruments and supplies used in surgery. Functions to promote the safety of the patient as a member of the surgical team. Possesses knowledge and skills required to effectively care for patients of all age groups including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Experience with cardiovascular, endovascular, and peripheral vascular procedures is very desirable. Experience in transplant surgery is preferred but not required if proficient in other specified skills. The Surgical Technologist must prepare adequately for different surgical needs and ensure compliance with established safety standards. Floating may be required depending on staffing needs within the assigned facilities. Traveler candidates are subject to pass/fail testing with strict passing criteria. A telemetry exam is required prior to start, focusing on the identification of lethal rhythms and other critical skills. Competency in telemetry must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
