We are hiring for the role of Equipment Maintenance Technician/Mechanic in the Street Department.7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday Essential Job Functions Operate, repair, and maintain various models of trucks, commercial motor vehicles, and equipment. Diagnose and repair issues for a variety of engines, systems, and equipment including, but not limited to: Diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, braking, transmission, steering, suspension, exhaust Small engine equipment De-icing and snow removal equipment Perform preventative maintenance on trucks, commercial vehicles, and equipment involving oil changes, tires, & brake checks. Perform welding or fabrication tasks on trailers and other equipment as necessary. Assist in cleaning and maintaining vehicles and equipment as assigned. Research and find information using multiple outlets, including the internet and technical manuals. Conduct field repairs in the case of emergency or sudden breakdown. Occasionally work extended evening or weekend hours. Serve on 24-hour call for emergency situations as assigned. May be required to work other shifts as needed, or to cover vacant positions due to vacations, sickness, or other absenteeism. Possession of a valid Class A commercial driver's license with air brake & tanker endorsements within six months of full-time employment. RETIREMENT The city's retirement plan is administered through the Indiana Public Employee's Retirement Fund. The city will match a percentage of contributions up to $3,000 annually.
