Job Purpose The purpose of this position is to provide and coordinate psychiatric rehabilitation (PsyR) services to individuals with mental illness, which will assist them in obtaining and succeeding in community integration and achieving established rehabilitation goals. Qualifications The position of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist is a professional staff position and requires a person capable of conforming to the high standards of behavior expected of all staff. Excellent work habits, including attendance and punctuality, are required. The person must follow company policies, and safety procedures as well as assuring that customers/clients under his/her supervision follow the same. Education: Bachelor’s degree required Experience: Two years of experience in human services, or a bachelor’s degree in a field directly related to this position. Computer proficiency: Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft and Google Programs. Clearances: Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain all required background clearances. Goodwill will pay for required background checks, including Act 151 Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania Criminal History Check, and Department of Human Services–FBI Fingerprints. Exclusion Report: Employee will be screened monthly, as required for federally funded programs. Exclusion from federal healthcare programs will result in ineligibility for federally funded positions. Other Requirements: Must possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation for work-related duties. Must also maintain a working telephone to ensure timely communication when needed. SupervisionReceived: Direct supervision from the Coordinator with autonomy to perform duties in line with agency policies. Exercised: None. Key Skills and DutiesKnowledge of current best practices in the delivery of PsyR services, and acceptance of Goodwill's Philosophy Concerning People Served. Knowledge of and ability to interpret human behavior, and basic knowledge of effective behavior management techniques. Sound professional judgment, adequate to formulate realistic program plans, and counseling participants regarding rehabilitation issues. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing using English. Ability to relate effectively to others, including co-Workers, agency participants, supervisors and community contacts. Thorough knowledge and acceptance of principles of customer service. To attend all required trainings. To promote and adhere to the elements of the corporate compliance program, operating within the laws, rules, and regulations required. To report any non-compliance issues to your supervisor or the corporate compliance officer. Establishes a plan of services with each participant, which will assist the participant in achieving his/her goals. Coordinates services with other staff, funding sources, and others who have a significant role in the individual's life. Ensures area of responsibility complies with regulations and requirements. Conducts orientation/intake activities. Implements activities in accordance with needs and rehabilitation plans. Provides required documentation to appropriate staff, agency, and funding sources for all services and activities. Transports participants when needed. PsyR Specialist will be responsible for the following: Assist in goal identification Assist in skill development to reach and maintain rehabilitation goals Assist in the support development necessary to reach and maintain rehabilitation goals PsyR Specialist will perform the following duties: Engage the individual in the program Assess interest, readiness, and preferences for rehabilitation services Create and implement rehabilitation plans Educate the participants about mental illness and recovery Inform the participants about resources in the community and identify options the person may be interested in pursuing as rehabilitation goals Assess the needs and preferences in terms of skill and supports to develop, achieve, and maintain rehabilitation goals Direct or indirect skills teaching Assist the participant in gaining and utilizing community supports and resources including linking them to appropriate services that are mindful of cultural content Advocate as needed Create a social-cultural environment which supports recovery Continue to develop strategies to assist people develop, achieve, and maintain rehabilitation goals Facilitate and assist in facilitation of group class sessions Responsible for other duties as assigned or identified, for the benefit of Goodwill or Mission Services.
