Job Profile Summary Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) BC Foundation, the Associate Vice President (AVP) has primary responsibilities for development and alumni engagement within the Office of Advancement: lead the development team, that includes the annual fund, major gifts program, corporation/foundation and alumni engagement. Working closely with advancement colleagues, senior college administrators, faculty members, Broward College Foundation board directors, alumni volunteer leaders, high net worth individuals, and key business and civic leaders, the AVP of Advancement (Development & Alumni Engagement) will actively engage in implementing a broad-based fundraising plan. Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master's Degree preferred. CFRE preferred. Minimum Experience/Training: Ten years of experience in fundraising, including over five years in management, preferably in higher education. Success in major gifts fundraising and prospect management. Success in alumni relations and engagement. Success in supervisory and team leadership. Essential Functions: Daily -50%: Leads the Major Gifts Program: Ensures that the development team is actively engaged in a sound and strategic prospect management process, employing effective actions for prospect identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Ensures that the team is focused on priorities, that prospect strategies are sound, that advancement activities are aligned, and that appropriate initiatives are taken in a timely manner. Be personally responsible for cultivating and soliciting a significant number of high value prospects. Employs effective planned giving techniques to leverage gift opportunities. Serves as spokesperson for the college in various civic, community and professional settings at the local, state and national level; conduct speaking engagements to promote the mission and goals of the college. Communicates and negotiates professionally and effectively as a collaborator, decision maker and problem solver with a comprehensive knowledge in the field of higher education. Provides overall management for all annual fund, major gift and planned giving marketing initiatives and activities. Daily -30%: leads the Alumni Engagement Program. Assesses the readiness of the College to engage alumni and track the Alumni Engagement Index (AEI), working with consultants as needed to conduct internal assessments and external studies. Develops alumni relations and engagement strategies, including priorities, timeframes, resource allocation, and budgets. Provides staff leadership and manage all aspects of alumni programs and engagement opportunities to promote alumni giving. Recruits and manages alumni members as volunteers to increase the BC goals and objectives for AEI. Manages the Alumni Engagement fundraising budgets. Oversees alumni PR, communications, collaborating with internal communications team to create content for the communications and talking points for the media. Oversees alumni engagement data, record keeping, evaluate progress towards goals, and prepare and present periodic reports on fundraising to the Foundation Board and senior administrators. Daily -20%: Manages and supervises a Team of Advancement Professionals: Develops and implements an integrated fundraising plan, that uses performance metrics and key performance indicators in coordination with the BCF CEO. Works collaboratively with advancement officers to manage Office of Advancement activities, including annual giving, corporate giving, events, communications, records, and stewardship. Works collaboratively with district and campus administration to ensure a college-wide perspective while working towards effective attainment of district goals and objectives with respect to the planning and activities of the BC Foundation and activities Commits to creating and working in a collaborative and team-building environment. Communicates frequently and thoroughly with all levels of staff, as well as the college community, regarding campus initiatives and programs as well as all other issues that impact all employees. Firm grasp of all aspects of fund development and alumni relations. Outstanding writing, communication and analytical skills. Strong creativity and problem-solving skills. Broad understanding of the external environment and how it affects academia in general and Broward in particular, including political, legal, environmental, educational, financial and social influences. Ability to translate College-wide strategies and priorities into strategic and operational plans and policies for own area. Ability to understand the impact of own area on the College and to contribute to the development of the College's strategic plan. Proven leadership skills and managerial expertise, and ability to motivate and empower direct and indirect reports to achieve priorities and expectations for own area. Ability to forecast and manage budgets and other resource requirements for area of responsibility. Ability to partner with others across the College and externally develops strategies and plans to exchange information, collaborate on projects, share resources, etc. Ability to influence others of the benefits/importance of an idea or plan of action and to gain their support or commitment.
