Job Description

Position Title: Children's Psychiatrist Department: Foster Family Services Alignment With: Foster Family, Clinical Director Location: Remote Contract Type: Independent Contractor Hourly Rate: $175 per hour Background The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) oversees the care and custody of minors awaiting immigration proceedings. Marsell provides specialized care for these children, including comprehensive mental health services. This scope of work outlines the responsibilities and deliverables for the Children's Psychiatrist, ensuring alignment with ORR standards and Marsell's commitment to high-quality care. Objectives Provide high-quality psychiatric care to minors served by Marsell. Ensure compliance with ORR guidelines, federal regulations, and Marsell's clinical standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop holistic treatment plans tailored to individual needs. Key Deliverables Psychiatric Evaluations: Conduct thorough evaluations of minors to diagnose mental health conditions and assess treatment needs. Provide detailed documentation of all evaluations, ensuring compliance with ORR standards. Treatment Plans: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, incorporating therapy, medication management, and other interventions as necessary. Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure coordinated and effective care. Draft, review, or assist in the preparation of legal and court-related documents, including writing reports and providing testimony when necessary. Medication Management: Prescribe, adjust, and monitor psychotropic medications, adhering to evidence-based practices. Educate minors and their caregivers on medication usage, benefits, and potential side effects. Team Collaboration: Participate in regular case review meetings with the Clinical Director and mental health team. Provide consultation and training for staff on psychiatric care topics. Collaborate with school personnel and other care providers to support and enhance the treatment process. Regulatory Compliance: Maintain detailed and accurate medical records in accordance with ORR and state guidelines. Ensure all practices comply with HIPAA and other relevant regulations. Telemedicine Services: Deliver psychiatric care remotely, leveraging telemedicine platforms to meet the needs of minors in various locations. Qualifications Education: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution. Certification: Medical Doctor License - MD - State Board-certified in Psychiatry with a specialization in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Licensure: Active medical license within the State of California where services are rendered. Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in child and adolescent psychiatry, preferably in trauma-informed care settings. Language Proficiency: Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required. Technical Skills: Proficiency in telemedicine platforms and electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Evaluation Criteria Demonstrated expertise in child and adolescent psychiatry, particularly with trauma-exposed populations. The ability to deliver high-quality care remotely through telemedicine. Strong collaboration and communication skills within a multidisciplinary team. Compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards. Timeliness and accuracy in submitting required documentation. Timeline and Commitment Contract Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and program needs. Hours: Flexible, as determined by patient needs and program requirements. Compensation The hourly rate will be competitive and aligned with industry standards.
