Summary: The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing all breast imaging procedures in compliance with the American College of Radiology (ACR), FDA, and Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations. This role requires timely and accurate documentation of all procedures. Education & Certification: Candidates must hold ARRT certification in Radiography and Mammography or be ARRT Radiography certified with eligibility for Mammography registry. MQSA initial requirements must be met with valid documentation. Registry-eligible individuals are required to pass the ARRT Mammography registry within one year of employment to maintain their position. Current AHA CPR certification is mandatory. Experience: A minimum of two years' experience as a Mammography Technologist in both screening and diagnostic settings is preferred. Skills & Requirements: Demonstrated technical expertise and positive interpersonal skills are essential. Strong verbal and written communication abilities are required. The technologist must provide excellent patient care, effective communication, and education. Knowledge of growth and development across all age groups is important. Physical demands include manual dexterity, visual and auditory acuity, mobility to assume various positions, and the ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods. The position may involve exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. Additional Responsibilities: The technologist will actively participate as a representative in collaborative breast care groups and engage in community health initiatives related to breast imaging.
