Director, Software EngineeringPosition Overview: The Director will be responsible for leading a skilled team of software developers in support of the firm's investments, operations, client service, reporting, and performance teams. This person will work directly with the CTO to help shape the technology strategy and direction for the development and support of a variety of applications through the development and support of reusable architectural components and frameworks. This person will be expected to effectively manage people, including building and developing skilled teams, directing and motivating the teams at an appropriate level of detail, and ensuring a service oriented approach. In addition, this person will understand and help shape the future direction of the firm's business and collaborate with the business leaders to ensure their needs are met. Responsibilities: Review, establish and enforce development standards Actively participate on the IT Architecture committee Facilitate architectural reviews Work with Program Managers to effectively allocate development resources to projects Provide technology leadership to the firm by developing long-term goals and strategies Manage application development teams, including resource planning, staffing and recruiting activities; manage the performance and development of associates, including meeting with staff and supervisors regularly to understand needs and opportunities for growth and development Work collaboratively with business aligned and IT development teams to define, design, build, and support re-usable technology components Establish and ensure consistent, quality architectural standards and practices; Keep abreast of industry trends and new technologies Participate in development of long-term goals and strategies; Identify business and technology solutions Work with Acadian's remote operations in Asia Participate or lead initiatives such as process refinement and improvement in project management or systems development Qualifications: 10 years experience in managing IT, primarily in planning, development and support. Experience in related technology areas such as architecture or infrastructure are an advantage Management experience in a large, complex IT environments using Agile methodologies Experience with multi-platform technical environment and long term technology projects Experience in the asset management or financial services Strong management skills with experience managing at least 25 direct and indirect employees Ability to collaborate with peers and business leaders Solid technology skills in a broad range of applications development tools and technologies Strong project and process management skills, including vendor management and software package implementation #LI-DNP
