Less than 1 year experience in CT preferred. License: ARRT Radiography, ARRT Computed Tomography Certifications: BLS or equivalent Must-Have: Excellent communication skills, ability to prioritize, detail-oriented, ability to function independently and as part of a team, customer service skills Description: Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients. Performs all exams according to department procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Independently performs job functions. Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patients for procedures. Verifies proper clinician order for procedures. Obtains complete clinical history and gathers examination data. Assesses for contraindicating conditions. Follows established procedures for administering contrast media. Ensures all studies have proper patient identification and markers are utilized appropriately. Reviews CT/radiographic images for clinically acceptable results. Releases patients after procedures. Responds to emergency situations. Provides restocking of emergency equipment. Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed. Observes patient conditions and evaluates situations when physician intervention is necessary. Verifies correct identity of patients using unique identifiers. Ensures patient's privacy and comfort. Maintains patient's dignity throughout the exam/procedure. Demonstrates competence in determining and applying appropriate procedures based on patient age. Organizes schedules and priorities to accomplish required activities within designated time frames. Follows physician instructions in assisting with procedures and exams. Demonstrates proficiency with loading and operating power injection devices. Utilizes critical thinking skills. Engages in dialogue with patients and families. Asks clarifying questions and seeks clarification on ambiguous orders. Understands and documents preprocedural verification processes. Demonstrates understanding of pre-and-post procedural care. Prepares patients for procedures and demonstrates understanding of sterile techniques. Maintains competency with venipuncture. Adjusts technique to ensure the lowest possible dose of radiation while maintaining image quality. Reports problems regarding malfunctioning equipment to supervisors. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment according to infection control policies. Patiently explains the purpose and nature of exams to patients. Ensures patients' questions and concerns are satisfactorily addressed. Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees. Provides patients with preparatory instruction and explanation of procedures. Documentation is concise, legible, and includes precise terminology. Reads emails daily and follows through with assignments. Completes mandatory departmental education as required. Produces acceptable images consistently. Ensures equipment operates properly before use. Sends studies to PACS immediately after completion. Completes all studies in the reporting system. Restocks linens and supplies and maintains the department's cleanliness. Transports and positions patients, assisting them on and off procedure tables. Performs patient charging activities on the day services are rendered. Applies shielding and immobilization devices as needed. Willingly offers knowledge and assistance to others. Performs clerical duties to ensure service continuity. Keeps supervisors informed of responsibilities and issues. Maintains an individual productivity rate equal to co-workers. Operates workstations associated with the CT department. Maintains standards set by regulatory agencies. Takes call when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all established policies and standards of work. Competent in all aspects of CT, including patient positioning and radiation protection. Possesses an understanding of anatomy and pathology related to quality procedures. Competent to perform quality control tests as recommended.
