Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health - 6N Unit Address: Asheville, NC Unit: 6N Behavioral Health Schedule: Weekends required; No on-call Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs (white top/navy pants or all white also permitted) About the Unit The 6N Behavioral Health Unit is a 23-bed inpatient psychiatric unit. The team provides care for diverse behavioral health populations in a fast-paced environment with frequent admissions and discharges. Equipment & Systems Vital sign machines Glucometers IV equipment (as needed) Oxygen Code cart Bladder scanner EMR: Cerner About the Role We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Registered Nurse to join our 6N Behavioral Health team. This role requires strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to manage high-stress situations while providing safe, therapeutic care to patients experiencing psychiatric crises. Responsibilities Respond to behavioral health emergencies, including aggressive patient situations Participate in rapid response and Code Blue events Perform blood draws, IV starts, and wound care Deliver patient-centered behavioral health care across diverse populations Collaborate with BHTs, sitters, and interdisciplinary teams Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner Support a high-volume unit with frequent admissions and discharges Required Qualifications Active RN license CPI certification BLS certification Ability to manage aggressive or escalated patients Strong critical-thinking, time-management, and communication skills Preferred Qualifications Behavioral health nursing experience Experience with adult, adolescent, child, or geriatric behavioral health populations Floating Requirements May float to other inpatient adult behavioral health units and geriatric behavioral health units
