Must-Have: WV Licensed Pharmacist. 5 years of practice experience in acute care pharmacy. USP 797, 795 and 800 experience ASHP Sterile Compounding Preparation Certificate or equivalent a plus. Drug Diversion Prevention software knowledge a plus. Position Summary: The Manager, Pharmacy Operations provides general oversight of daily pharmacy operations. This position will report to the Director of Pharmacy/Pharmacist-in-Charge (DOP/PIC) to assist in maintaining compliance with all regulatory, legal, accreditation, and licensure requirements, and to provide expertise/leadership in pharmacy operations including but not limited to: sterile & non-sterile compounding (i.e., USP797, USP795, USP800), drug procurement & inventory management, drug diversion prevention, pharmaceutical waste, fiscal accountability, and scheduling/staffing & productivity. • Develops & implements a comprehensive, standardized program to assure compliance with USP797 regulatory standards. • Presides as Designated Person and has all the responsibilities for the Designated Person for all sterile and non-sterile compounding including hazardous and non-hazardous compounding as defined by USP. • Assists in creating & maintaining pharmacy operations' policy and procedures. • Participates in medication management traces to assure adherence and compliance with TJC accreditation standards. • Assists in assuring that the Pharmacy complies with State & Federal laws & regulations governing pharmacy practice. • Provides oversight for drug procurement, storage, inventory management & dispensing procedures to achieve fiscal goals. • Assures that pharmacy buyers achieve high levels of contract compliance when ordering pharmaceuticals. • Participates in the ongoing Omnicell optimization process to assure effective and efficient utilization of the ADCs. • Participates in all regularly scheduled inventories of controlled substances. • Oversees the completion of monthly audits of all nursing units and other clinical areas where drugs are stored to assure appropriate storage and security of these agents. • Oversees drug diversion prevention & monitoring activities, including ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, staff training & orientation, daily activities management, reporting, utilization audits, and investigations. • Assures proper handling & accountability for expired drugs, drug waste & reverse distributor activities. • Works with staff to create and maintain the pharmacy staffing schedules. • Assigns/re-assigns staff to assure that workload and staff are reasonably aligned to assure responsive pharmaceutical to patients. • Participates in staff interviews and selection. • Designs and manages the Department training programs to assure that staff are appropriately trained/oriented. Reports to: Pharmacy Director Qualifications - External Minimum Education • Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy, • Advanced degree (e.g., PharmD. MS, MBA, MHA) preferred. • ASAP-accredited residency (PGY1/PGY2) preferred.
