Registered Nurses primarily serve as circulators for GI cases but can tech if experienced. The role involves circulating and managing procedural sedation for IR cases. Pre-op or recovery duties are not required for either specialty. Common GI cases include EGDs, colonoscopies, and ERCPs, primarily basic and outpatient. IR cases typically consist of dialysis catheters, paras, thoracentesis, and liver biopsies. The position includes on-call responsibilities during daytime hours and additional coverage after hours. A charge nurse is responsible for running both units without taking an assignment. RNs cover the role of GI tech, supported by instrument techs for scope cleaning. Floating to a sister facility may be required. Holiday obligations will include working one holiday during the contract if applicable. Typically, five days of unit-specific orientation are conducted. The charting system used is Cerner. This department is small, with a supportive medical staff. Cancellations may occur as per the established policy throughout the contract duration.
