Together we can make a difference in serving our neighbors. The Frontline Food Assistance Case Manager supports ACTS programs that make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in crisis. This position performs a broad range of critical administrative tasks, provides crisis intervention, and offers assessment and services to walk-in and call-in clients. Services include food, goods, advocacy, and referrals to relevant resources, fostering self-sufficiency, health, and wellness. Position Title and Department: Frontline Food Assistance Case Manager; Hunger Prevention Center Program Pay: $46,237.22 per year Reports to: Director of Hunger Prevention Services Hours per week and Schedule: 40 hours; Monday, Wednesday and Thursday , 7am - 5pm and Tuesday 9 am - 7 pm, flexibility for client needs or events required Pay Type: Salary (not OT eligible) Telework Friendly: No (waiting period, application and approval required) Essential: No; Client Contact Position: Yes Driving required: No Personal vehicle required: No Location: Dumfries, VA Effective Date (of description): 2/19/2026 Supervisory Responsibilities: Recruit, interview, train, and supervise intake volunteers. Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Conduct comprehensive initial screening process to determine eligibility for agency and partner sponsored assistance for all clients. Respond appropriately to crisis calls and walk-ins to provide immediate support with care, guidance or referral to appropriate services or programs. Make referrals to additional ACTS programs, advocate for collaborative client services and refer clients for supplemental food assistance and/or financial and resource assistance. Assist clients to determine individual health and wellness needs and provide follow up to ensure client wellbeing. Manage Health and Wellness pilot programs in collaboration with Capital Area Food Bank. Develop and maintain relationships with program participants, assess well-being, provide program materials, schedule pick-ups and deliveries, and administer surveys. Prepare client food request tickets, noting health and diet concerns. Accurately complete required paperwork to ensure timely service to clients. Coordinate, collect, and input data in program specific databases maintaining client files in accordance with ACTS and accrediting agency guidelines. Oversee client data input process coordinating with data entry staff. Act as liaison between program partners. Complete and submit reports as required by program partners. Prepare and maintain demographic information databases. Identify service utilization trends and potential needs based on review data. Provide Program information in person, over the phone, and via email. Complete 40 hours of sexual and domestic violence intervention training annually (provided by ACTS the first year) and other essential internal and external training as required. Actively participate in supervision, attend department meetings, community meetings, training and other agency related activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bilingual capability (English and Spanish) with good verbal and written communication skills in both languages. Excellent ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Strong ability to learn new client software and data entry programs as necessary. Strong Microsoft Office 365 and data management skills including Excel data organization and reporting experience. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Good supervisory and leadership skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience with PlanStreet client management software Experience using MS Publisher for flyers and brochures. Education and Experience: Meets one of the following three criteria: A bachelor's degree in human services, behavioral sciences or allied field (including criminal justice, education and psychology) AA degree in human services, behavior sciences or allied field (including criminal justice, education and psychology) with 4 years of documented related experience No college degree in human services, behavioral sciences or allied field (including criminal justice, education and psychology) with 5 years of documented related experience. A bachelor's in human services or behavioral sciences, preferred Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Ability to occasionally meet the following physical requirements: included but not limited to: bending, squatting, and pushing/pulling/lifting up to 40 pounds, twisting, kneeling and standing/sitting for long periods of time.
