At Disneyland® Resort, a Tree Care Specialist is crucial in ensuring the well-being of our urban forest. Under the guidance of an Arboricultural Manager, you will perform essential tree care duties aimed at maintaining the beauty and safety of our Resort. This role is perfect for someone passionate about horticulture and committed to providing an enchanting experience for our Guests and Cast Members. Responsibilities: Climbing: Utilize safe climbing practices to access trees ranging from 10 to 150 feet, adhering to WC-CTW, ISA, and ANSI Z133.1 guidelines, and proficiently operate aerial lifts as per DLR regulations. Pruning: Expertly prune both young and mature trees, following ISA and ANSI Z133.1 standards alongside Disney Show quality benchmarks. Utilize hand tools such as pruners, saws, and chainsaws effectively and safely. Young Tree Care: Planting: Capable of planting 15-gallon and 24-inch box trees in accordance with ISA and ANSI Z133.1 standards, involving physical tasks like shoveling and lifting weights between 25-100 lbs. Transplanting: Skillfully box up to a 24-inch root ball while managing tasks that include shoveling, strapping, and lifting. Staking New Trees: Demonstrated proficiency in staking methods using appropriate tools like stake pounders and ladders. Inventory Maintenance and Inspection: Conduct tree tagging, inspection, and data recording using the Access Database Inventory Program. A solid understanding of tree health and ability to input data is crucial. Mature Tree Care: Cabling and Bracing: Familiar with installation guidelines for hardware in accordance with ISA/ANSI Z133.1. Rigging: Competent in performing safe rigging operations, with a willingness to learn various rigging systems. Removals: Proficient in safely removing trees ranging from 10-150 feet using the proper pruning tools. Groundwork: Secure work areas, assist climbers by providing ground support, safely operate a chainsaw and chipper while complying with ISA/ANSI Z133.1 standards. Emergencies: Ability to manage stressful situations effectively and respond to the needs of Cast Members and Guests, with availability for on-call duty 24/7. Basic Qualifications: Schedule Availability: Flexibility for various shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd), including holidays and any combination of days off. Qualifications: Experience performing the outlined responsibilities is required. Must possess a valid California Driver's License. Hold a Western Chapter Certified Tree Worker (WC-CTW) certification or be qualified to obtain one. Must be at least 18 years of age. Preferred Qualifications: Possession of Western Chapter Certified Tree Worker (WC-CTW) certification. CPR and First Aid Certification. Additional Information: SCHEDULE AVAILABILITY While our Theme Parks and Resort Hotels function 24/7, this full-time role demands complete availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
