SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES The Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Faculty Coordinator is a 12-month faculty position responsible for teaching, mentoring, and coordinating the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Program. This role emphasizes academic excellence, curriculum development, and student success while collaborating with the Director of Graduate Nursing Programs to support program compliance with the Texas State Board of Nursing, the Nurse Practice Act, and accreditation standards set by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The Faculty Coordinator fosters a culture of assessment, continuous improvement, and scholarly engagement. The position includes a teaching load of 18 contact hours per calendar year and full participation in faculty responsibilities as outlined in the Schreiner University Policy Manual. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Doctorate in nursing or related field required; certification as a PMHNP required. 5 years of college-level teaching experience preferred. Academic leadership experience desirable. Must hold an unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or multi-state privilege; Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) must hold a Texas APRN license. Maintain continuing education and a minimum of 200 hours per year of direct patient care. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Effectively lead employees and teams with a collaborative style in a collegial and participatory governance environment in a remote environment. Deliver formal and influential presentations. Be a fair-minded, ethical, and honest leader with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum. Utilize data and assessment outcomes to make improvements for programs and services. Develop and monitor budgets and effectively utilize resources. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and enhancement of student academic achievement, including knowledge of and experience with assessment. Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to best practices in nursing education and assessment, including the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials of Baccalaureate and Masters Nursing Education Knowledge of CCNE accreditation standards, State Board of Nursing standards, and the proven ability to ensure program compliance with standards, collect and maintain the data needed to document compliance, and write reports related to accreditation. Ability to recruit, coach, manage, support, and develop faculty Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse populations of students, faculty, and staff Ability to build effective partnerships with clinical agencies and external organizations FACULTY & PROGRAM LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES Teach graduate-level courses in the PMHNP program. Serve as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff and others regarding questions, complaints, and issues pertaining to graduate nursing programs. Investigate reports of academic misconduct involving graduate nursing courses and/or students according to university policies and procedures. Participate in the grade appeal process as necessary according to university policies and procedures. Monitor and review clinical hours, student placement, and clinical contracts in Exxat. Work with the Director of Gradate Nursing Programs, assess program quality and effectiveness on an ongoing basis based on CCNE and University guidelines and national certification pass rates. Facilitate the development, implementation, and revision of program curriculum in collaboration with the director, program faculty and student feedback. Develop strategic initiatives and manage the program operating budget in consultation with the Director of Graduate Nursing Programs and Dean of Faculty. Schedule classes offered by the program in consultation with the Director of Graduate Nursing Programs, the Registrar's Office and other relevant offices. Hire, mentor, monitor and evaluate the performance of personnel in the program according to established University guidelines and Systematic Program Evaluation (SPE). Attend and participate in all Division of Nursing faculty/staff meetings. Actively engage in collaborative pursuits and in forging relationships and partnerships with external and internal constituencies including clinical partnerships. Attend all University Faculty/Staff meetings and relevant academic department/school meetings as requested. Other duties as assigned for the role.
