Under the guidance of a Nurse Supervisor, this position: Provides daily nursing care, training, activities, and treatment to the people who live at the Regional Centers in accordance with all licensing and certification requirements, the South Carolina Nursing Practice Act, and BHDD-OIDD. Administers routine oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications as well as treatments in accordance with nursing protocol, facility policies, and procedures. Monitors health conditions of the individuals and reports findings to medical provider and appropriate staff. Assists physician/practitioner with examinations and treatments as needed. Maintains a safe and sanitary living and working environment. Ensures accountability and protection from harm for all individuals through appropriate and thorough documentation. Reviews Monthly Medication Administration Record (MAR) and 90-day recertification orders, completes health care records, AIMS/DISCUS, swallowing and SAOM Evaluations. Assists with weights and heights as ordered and indicated by policy and procedures. Properly documents as needed. Performs and participates in activities as otherwise assigned by the supervisor to include, but not limited to, participation in on-call rotation procedure. Positions for this posting are located at Midlands Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Columbia, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position is eligible for up to $3.75/hour shift differential for applicable shifts!Sign-on bonus for eligible candidates will be distributed after one, six, and twelve months of successful continuous Full-Time employment. Minimum and Additional Requirements Successful completion of a registered nursing education program for professional nursing or an equivalent course of study from a registered nursing education program per Section 40-33-32 of the South Carolina Nurse Licensure Act. Licensure to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of South Carolina. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of practical nursing procedures. Knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene, basic health, and safety practices. Knowledge of human anatomy. Ability to maintain attention to detail. Ability to make accurate technical and physical observations of individuals. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain accurate medical documentation. Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and laws. Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, and educational backgrounds. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the healthcare team. Ability to lift and move individuals. General knowledge of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Ability to work in a group home like setting or ICF. Physical ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile.
