This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the school principal, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount. All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition Title: School Secretary (Annual) Salary Schedule: PCSD Classified Department: Local School Job Code: 242005 Reports To: Principal Work Schedule: Annual/8.0 hr Grade/Level: CLSJ/D-3 FLSA: Non-Exempt Primary Function: Provide support for building administration and perform functions that support the overall operations of the school. Working Conditions: Physical Demands: Office environment Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard Constant interruptions Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone Seeing to read a variety of materials Sitting for extended periods of time Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to file materials Qualifications: Minimum of high school diploma or GED General office and organizational skills General knowledge of computers and software applications Positive interpersonal skills Ability to be discreet and confidential General knowledge of office equipment The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.Essential Functions: 1. Perform a variety of secretarial/clerical duties to support supervisory and administrative personnel in handling daily activities 2. Distribute mail to appropriate personnel 3. Compose routine correspondance, type correspondance, reports, etc. 4. Operate standard office equipment such as typewriter, calculator, computer, copier, etc., as well as equipment developed or advanced from future technology required by the job 5. Answer phones, screen calls, and refer to appropriate person 6. Greet visitors, ascertain nature of business, and direct visitors to appropriate person 7. Maintain data, statistics and other information, and prepare reports as required 8. Assist in maintaining efficient office operations by providing clerical relief whenever and wherever needed 9. Interact effectively with the general public, staff members, students, teachers, parents and administrators, using tact and good judgement 10. Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner 11. Participate in training programs to improve skills and proficiency related to the assignment 12. Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibility 13. Ensure adherence to good safety procedures 14. Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies 15. Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee Applicants will be selected for interview.
