Company: Marin General Hospital dba MarinHealth Medical Center Compensation Range: $54.32 - $81.48 Work Shift: 10 Hour (days) (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Job Description Summary: Perform clinical laboratory procedures Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions: Job Specifications: Education: Must have a BA/BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science, or other related science. Experience: Minimum of completed pre-licensure training in California State Department Public Health accredited training program Minimum of three years of general laboratory experience in a hospital or acute care setting or three (3) continuous years with Marin General Hospital. License and Certifications: Licensed Clinical Lab Scientist Required at hire Basic Life Support Preferred at hire Integrative Agitation Management (IAM) Required within 30 days of hire Prerequisite Skills: Ability to work in teams in which all members are mutually accountable Ability to work collaboratively with team members, hospital staff, patients, and physicians Willingness and ability to be trained in more than one laboratory discipline Capable of organizing multiple tasks, using time management skills and attention to detail Basic computer knowledge with the ability to do data entry and retrieval Knowledge of blood/body fluid precautions Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills Ability to read, speak, write, understand and follow English verbal and written instructions Demonstrated technical proficiency Ability to delegate and direct others in the performance of laboratory procedures Must demonstrate the desire to further their knowledge in laboratory science and the willingness to accept additional responsibilities such as but not limited to staff development (e.g. training, in-service, internships, new technology evaluation, assist in test validation, teaching, resource person, etc.). Duties And Responsibilities: Essential (Not Modifiable) Responsible for ensuring duties of assigned shift or work area are completed, working with other staff to adjust workload as necessary Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of hospital polices and department policies and procedures. Responsible for performing job within the parameters of these policies and procedures: the following examples are not inclusive of all policies: Follow all appropriate Blood and Body Fluid Precautions Comply with laboratory quality control program Maintaining records Follow turnaround time policies Use computer for data entry and information retrieval Handle and process lab specimens Perform test procedures specific to assigned section Check test results for validity Responsible for maintenance, calibration, and assessing accuracy and reproducibility of instrumentation Keep equipment and work area clean and safe for use Participate in competency testing and training Participate in Proficiency Testing (CAP surveys) Keep adequate stock of supplies in work area Responsible for the operation of the assigned work area Direct and instruct others in the performance of laboratory procedures Responsible for routine care and maintenance of equipment in assigned work area or program i.e. safety, POC.
