Recreation Therapy Aide

Recreation Therapy Aide Job Location: Mystic, ConnecticutMasonicare at Mystic - Senior Living CommunityDay Shift / 40hrs/wkThe Recreation Therapy Aide will develop and implement a variety of recreation programs and services to residents that are socially, physically and cognitively stimulating.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Create and implement activity plans for residents, in the way of small groups, special events and entertainment. Motivates residents for participation in either planned groups or on a one-to-one basis. Programs should be modified accordingly to meet the individual needs of residents. Encourage resident participation and provide escort if necessary. Attends meetings as required. Participate in educational programs and in-services as mandated. Evening and weekend hours possible. Plan and/or accompany residents on out trips. Understands and follows universal precautions an MSDS books. Review evaluation on new residents completed by Memory Care Resource Coordinator. Complete dementia training routinely and, as needed, to foster a supportive dining experience for our memory care residents. All other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:Education: High School Diploma or EquivalentOther: Pushing/pulling wheelchairs, climbing ladder (i.e.: decorating), using push carts for decorations or supplies, extensive standing/walking.
