As the NICU Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of a Level III NICU, ensuring patient safety, staff development, and operational efficiency. You will play an essential role in supervising, mentoring, and empowering NICU nurses and ancillary staff, while collaborating closely with the NICU Director, Clinical Educators, and the NICU Medical Director. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of neonatal best practices, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement initiatives, along with the ability to respond to emergencies with advanced clinical judgment and composure. This role offers the opportunity to combine direct leadership with operational and strategic responsibilities. The NICU Manager will work to maintain accreditation standards, implement performance improvement projects, oversee staffing and scheduling, manage budgets and resources, and provide hands-on consultation in complex patient cases. Job specification Candidate requirements Job specification • Provide direct supervision and leadership to all clinical personnel and ancillary staff within the Level 3 NICU. • Mentor and support Clinical Managers and Resource Nurses to promote a positive, efficient, and collaborative work environment. • Oversee and facilitate staff scheduling for all shifts, ensuring optimal coverage based on patient acuity and census. • Ensure compliance with standards, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements including Title 22, TJC, CDPH, and CCS. • Collaborate with the NICU Director and Clinical Educator to develop, update, and implement policies, procedures, and educational programs. • Conduct regular rounding on patients and families to ensure satisfaction and address concerns promptly. • Monitor patient acuity and validate staffing patterns to maintain safe and effective care delivery. • Manage department productivity, budgeting, supply chain, capital equipment planning, and payroll functions (Kronos). • Complete new hire and annual staff evaluations, ensuring licensures and certifications remain current. Candidate requirements Required: • Minimum of 5 years of NICU experience, including at least 3 years of full-time leadership experience in a Level 3 NICU. • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. • Current California RN license. • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (in-progress considered with definitive completion date). • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification. • Current NRP certification. • Certified in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (NCC or equivalent) (in-progress considered with definitive completion date). • Demonstrated clinical competence in neonatal care and leadership skills. • Strong ability to collaborate with nursing and medical leadership while maintaining a professional presence. Preferred: • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN). • NRP Instructor Certification. • Critical Care Transport experience. Why work with us?
