Preceptor, Physical Therapy AssistingDepartment: Physical Therapy Assisting Location: Metropolitan Campus Reports To: Program Director, PhysicalPhysical Therapy Assisting I Recruitment Type: External/Internal Requisition ID: req6347 Employment Type: Administration and Professionals Union Position: Non-Union Work Schedule: M-F, 8:30am-5pm Number of Openings: 1 Job Description: SUMMARY Managesand coordinates the organization,administration, periodic review, planning, development and generaleffectiveness of the clinical phase of the Physical Therapy Assistant program. ESSENTIALFUNCTIONSManages and coordinates the clinical phase of the Physical Therapy Assistant program Creates and maintains clinical schedules for student learning Conducts regular clinical site visits Investigates and resolves conflicts with students and /or clinical sites Performs didactic instruction (including web-based instruction) of various Physical Therapy Assistant program courses Assists in the development of policies related to the Physical Therapy Assistant program Assists with the admissions process Assists with program recruitment and marketing Assists with counseling and guidance to students Participates in program course preparations and evaluations Establishes an effective record-keeping system to ensure program and students meet and maintain accreditation standards Maintains office hours Maintains effective communication with applicants, students, graduates, faculty, instructors, and outside stakeholders Serves as liaison between College and community health care agencies, professional organizations and other network entities vital to the Physical Therapy Assistant program Maintains membership in the American Physical Therapy Association Performs academic responsibilities consistent with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) and with College policy Maintains required BCI and up to date immunizations Responsible for the successful completion of an annual drug screen Performs other duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING Associate's degree in Physical Therapist Assisting or professional degree as a physical therapist Graduate of an accredited physical therapist assistant or physical therapist program Licensed in the state of Ohio as a physical therapist assistant or physical therapist Minimum of three years of demonstrated clinical experience as a physical therapist assistant or physical therapist Minimum of three years of demonstrated clinical teaching and/or clinical coordination experience Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team Demonstrated experience requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situations Must have valid driver's license with the ability to regularly travel to and from various clinical sites Must successfully complete a Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI) Background Check to include fingerprinting, social security number trace, county record search, state search, and a check of Federal Bureau of Investigation records Must provide proof of required immunizations as specified at: KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS and ABILITIES Possess strong organizational and time-management skills Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Possess current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology (e.g., word processing, e-mail, database) or proven ability to learn these skills Possess knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy Ability to work with students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Ability to meet the faculty requirements as stated in the Standards and Elements for the Commission on Accreditation of physical therapist assistant programs Ability to investigate and resolve conflicts Ability to travel to various clinical sites Ability to organize and coordinate large amounts of data Ability to promote student success Ability to effectively complete work assignments independently Ability to initiate, administer, assess, and document the clinical education component of the program Ability to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers Ability to travel, as needed Possess working knowledge of clinical and/or didactic education concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity Ability to collaborate, persuade, gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas on significant projects Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and quality Ability to academic program or equivalent coursework Active in clinical practice, especially as applicable to clinical education Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels Earned status as an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS and ABILITIES Possess knowledge of education, management, and adult learning theories and principles PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS (The demands described here are representative ofthose that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essentialfunctions of this job. The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment; The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated; Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.; Work may also require walking and standing inconjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away fromthe worksite Target Starting Salary Range: $60,000 to $70,000 The final offer for the successful candidate is targeted to fall within this range, but will be based upon an assessment of internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications in relation to the minimum and/or preferred job requirement(s).
