Responsibilities will include teaching in the candidate's areas of expertise in a manner consistent with the department's curriculum philosophy and design; serving in assigned or appointed roles; advising students on professional and academic progress through the program; and mentoring students in faculty-led research and the OTD capstone project. The successful candidate will be required to engage in substantial research leading toward national significance in alignment with scholarly productivity guidelines. The candidate is expected to fulfill the tripartite academic role of educator-scholar-citizen. Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor is contingent on qualifications and experience. The Department of Occupational Therapy offers an entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree. Students may elect to continue their education in USD's interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Health Sciences program. The Occupational Therapy program is housed in the Sanford Coyote Sports Center, with dedicated classrooms and laboratory spaces, including a fully functioning Activities of Daily Living Suite, as well as shared spaces with the Physical Therapy Department, including a nearly 1,500-square-foot Teaching and Research Laboratory and small-group collaborative learning spaces.
