Job Description

Overview We are seeking a Systems Administrator to support the operations and maintenance of mission-critical systems for a government intelligence customer in Springfield, VA. This role is integral to maintaining, improving, and securing enterprise systems that directly support national mission outcomes. The Systems Administrator works closely with on-site and remote users to coordinate system upgrades, respond to trouble calls, and provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 operational support for production environments. Responsibilities • Perform systems administration for desktop and server systems connected to local and wide area networks. • Manage desktop systems, including account monitoring, security enforcement, operating system installation, and related local system administration tasks. • Support the implementation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and lifecycle management of IT systems and supporting infrastructure. • Provide day-to-day operational support, monitoring, and problem resolution for client/server, storage, network, and mobile devices. • Identify, diagnose, and resolve Tier 2 and Tier 3 system and infrastructure issues. • Escalate issues appropriately and communicate system status to agency management and internal customers. • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems and application software. • Isolate and resolve hardware and software issues involving applications, operating systems, hardware, communications infrastructure, or combinations thereof. • Troubleshoot, configure, and maintain network components; implement OS enhancements to improve system reliability and performance. • Perform software installations and upgrades on UNIX and Windows operating systems and layered software packages in accordance with established policies, procedures, and SLAs. • Evaluate and apply COTS/GOTS software and hardware patches, and resolve associated software issues. • Develop, document, and follow procedures for managing multiple linked databases, including security, data integrity, disaster recovery, and bulk data import/export operations. • Conduct routine and emergency maintenance on assigned data center equipment. • Coordinate and communicate scheduled preventive maintenance windows with affected stakeholders. • Collaborate on the development, testing, and administration of backup and recovery plans. • Ensure systems comply with STIG security guidelines, utilizing tools such as Retina and HBSS. • Maintain accurate operational, configuration, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). • Verify system availability using established enterprise monitoring tools. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Experience with trouble reporting and tracking systems (e.g., Service+). • Ability to respond to after-hours calls and provide on-call support. • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. • Ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ or DoD 8570 Level II equivalent and a Windows certification within 90 days of hire. • Willingness and ability to deploy in-theater for up to 6 months, as required. • Possession of a valid U.S. passport. • General knowledge of Windows and UNIX administration, computer hardware, network administration, storage administration, and network configuration management. • Ability to travel 30-75% within the Washington Metropolitan Area, with occasional CONUS and OCONUS travel. Desired Qualifications • Experience in the imagery intelligence (IMINT) domain. • Ability to create and modify scripts across multiple platforms, including Windows, Linux, and Solaris. • Familiarity with the customer's processes, procedures, and production systems. • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. • Ability to function both independently and as part of a team. • Experience with one or more of the following technologies: o Windows Server, Red Hat, IRIX, Solaris o Sybase, Informix, SQL o Imagery Production Chain systems • General knowledge of database administration and network administration, including network configuration management. • Experience with analytical tools such as ArcGIS, SOCET GXP, or equivalent tools. Physical Demands • Occasional standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
