Description The Minnesota State Fair's Coliseum and livestock facilities are home to vendors, exhibitors and education opportunities during the 12 days of the Great-Minnesota Get-Together. When the fair is not in full swing, there are a variety of non-fair events including livestock shows and dry floor events that take place throughout the year. The Coliseum & Livestock Complex Specialist assists with the on-site management of livestock facilities used for fair and non-fair events. These events take place in multiple buildings including the Coliseum, Miracle of Birth Center, Cattle Barn, Horse Barn, Sheep/Poultry Barn, Swine Barn and Compeer Arena. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Employee Development Opportunities Essential Functions Assist with change-over, set-up, tear-down, clean-up and service activities related to events and the annual fair, including stages, buildings, grounds, parking lots, barns, etc. Maintain and monitor buildings and event facilities for safety, cleanliness and event needs. Operate facility sound system when needed. Assist in monitoring event move-in and operations including providing last minute services requested by the event. Maintain buildings and event facilities for safety, cleanliness and event needs. Be knowledgeable of and promote safe work practices. Operate machinery including trucks, gators, floor scrubbers, forklifts, tractors, and skid loaders. Physical activity and heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) will be required. Work environment may include working in heat/cold areas, loud noises, protected heights, proximity to livestock and livestock environments and mechanical equipment hazards. During peak activity times work extra daily hours and periods with no days off. These periods include during scheduled events and the weeks leading up to and during the Minnesota State Fair. Assist with tasks as assigned by either the immediate supervisor or CEO. Required Qualifications Two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer skills and experience. Excellent communication skills and a strong ability to interact with all in a professional, respectful, helpful and tactful manner. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all employees, management, vendors, partners and guests. Ability to navigate competing and often-changing priorities under pressure with a willingness to be flexible, problem solve and work in a fast-paced environment with a shifting workload. Must exemplify professionalism, integrity, and composure in dynamic environments. Experience operating heavy equipment. Ability to work as a member of a team and individually. Physical activity and lifting (up to 50 pounds) will be required. Oral and written communication skills. Organizational and interpersonal skills. Valid driver's license.
