Associate Principal - Junior High (2026-2027 School Year)JOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 01/07/2026 POSTING NUMBER: 051757 LOCATION: Admin Human Resources - 726 POSITION TITLE: Associate Principal - Junior High (2026-2027 School Year) JOB DESCRIPTION: Assist the school principal in overall administration of instructional programs and successful operations of the total school program. Assist the principal to ensure high standards of student performance in a safe learning environment that supports delivery of the approved curricula and meets the mission and vision of the campus/district. Coordinate and oversee assigned student activities and services. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide instructional leadership for the campus including analyzing data and developing plans to increase student achievement with the principal. Assist with the coordination and implementation of the District approved curriculum in all content areas. Participate in developing the Campus Improvement Plan and assist with the curriculum-related activities such as program development and evaluation. Analyze available data for the development and implementation of campus specific staff development. Supervise operations in the Principal's absence. Assist with safety inspections, safety drills, and other safety-related activities. Assist in the development of the master schedule and allocation of resources. Establish and maintain an effective learning climate in the school. Demonstrate thorough understanding of state and federal accountability systems. Ensure school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable. Serve as a campus behavior coordinator and fulfill the duties set out in Texas Education Code Section 37.0012. Coordinate and maintain a system for tracking student attendance and tardiness by enforcing district attendance policies. Facilitate access to instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals. Provide for two-way communication with staff, students, parents, and community. Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance to staff and students and recognize excellence and achievement. Respond to written and oral requests for information. Ensure the effective and quick resolution of conflicts. Supervise the maintenance of accurate student academic records. Supervise the guidance program to enhance student education and development. Build common vision for school improvement with staff. Direct planning activities and put programs in place with staff to ensure attainment of school's mission. Conducts faculty meetings. Assist with interviewing, selecting, evaluating, and growing high quality school staff. Support the principal in defining expectations for staff performance regarding instructional strategies, classroom management and communication with the public. Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences with staff. Practice a commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement. Comply with District policies and state and federal laws and regulations affecting the schools. Manage use of school facilities and grounds and coordinate programs associated with student safety to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe learning environment. Work with team leaders/department heads and faculty to compile annual budget requests based on documented needs. Develop professional skills appropriate to job assignment. Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior. Serve as a role model for all campus staff. Articulate the school's mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission. Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs and assist the principal in initiating activities to meet those needs. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement. Maintain confidentiality. Regular attendance required. Ensure that the code of Ethics and Standard practices for Texas Educators is followed and uses an understanding of legal issues to make sound decisions. Be available by phone, email, or video-conferencing to confer with District personnel, students, and/or parents. Perform other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE: Three years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level Two years of successful experience as a campus assistant principal QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: Master's Degree in educational administration and/or curriculum and instruction Texas Principal certification, or other appropriate Texas certificate (if out-of-state, eligible for Texas Principal as Instructional Leader) Instructional Leadership Training (ILT), Advancing Educational Leadership (AEL), or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire District approved teacher appraisal system, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire Special Knowledge/Skills: Thorough understanding of school operations Ability to coordinate campus functions and support operations Ability to manage personnel Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness Ability to implement policy and procedures Ability to interpret data and address needs of school and community Strong organizational, communication, public relations and interpersonal skills CONTACT INFORMATION: SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff assigned to campus. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the District's policies and applicable laws. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environment Factors: Work with frequent interruptions; work with frequent deadlines; maintain emotional control under stress. Prolonged use of computer; repetitive hand motions; occasional lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds; frequent sitting, moderate standing, walking, reaching and bending; frequent phone interactions.
