Maintenance Technician Full Time - Hourly POSITION SUMMARY: The Maintenance Technician supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Maintenance Technicians(s) will work alone or on a small team, and will utilize a variety of trade skills to support the operations of the Upper Palmetto YMCA, by ensuring that facilities, grounds, and vehicles are clean, safe, and operate at the highest level. Provides overall coordination of facility maintenance, including planning and developing preventative maintenance. Ensures the proper operation of all mechanical systems. Completes all maintenance and repair work lists as provided by the Facility Director. Tasks will include routine plumbing, drywall repair, painting, light electrical, carpentry, landscaping, snow removal, machine servicing, other tasks as needed Assists in developing budgets supporting the preventative and annual maintenance plans and monitors expenditures against budget. Participates with other members of management in the YMCA's fundraising campaign. Advises management on maintenance issues and projects as requested. Maintains all required logs, records and documentation necessary to uphold compliance with municipal codes, Branch procedures and association policy. Ensures that assigned vehicles (and/or other equipment) are maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA. Notifies Facility Director of supply stock shortages to maintain adequate inventories. May be scheduled to travel to multiple YMCA Branches to complete repairs or maintenance service as necessary. Updates facility plans periodically. May develop annual plan of capital projects and oversee their completion under the direction of the Facilities Director, consistent with the YMCA's strategic plan and community needs. Knows and adheres to all service line policies and procedures related to equipment, chemical safety, and employee conduct. Performs other duties as assigned. Critical Thinking & Decision Making Emotional Maturity Qualifications: Knowledge of procedures, safety measures and commonly used concepts within one or more field(s). Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, is strongly preferred. High school diploma or equivalent, and at least 2 years of experience in building maintenance or a construction trade, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Possess basic mechanical aptitude and have experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, pumps, HVAC, lock repair, etc. CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within 30 days of employment. CPO or boiler certifications may be required within 120 days of employment. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record, and ability to work at a various locations during the course of a work day Ability and current license to drive with record that meets YMCA standards. Basic computer skills are essential. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to: climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for an extended period of time, climb ladders, walk, shovel snow, plow snow, lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity. The work is performed both indoors and out, and may require travel to various locations. While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. Pay Range: $19 per hour
