This is a hands-on Tool & Die Maker position working directly with engineering and production teams to build, troubleshoot, and improve production tooling used in forming and fabrication operations. This is not a bench machinist role - the position focuses on tooling function, production support, and solving real manufacturing problems on the shop floor. What You'll Do: Plan sequence of operations and fabricate tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures Work from prints, sketches, and engineering drawings to build and repair tooling Troubleshoot and correct tooling issues affecting production and quality Support first-article production and tooling tryouts Modify and rework blanking, piercing, and forming dies Collaborate with engineers and production personnel to improve manufacturability Set up and operate machine tools as required for tooling fabrication Inspect and verify tooling using precision measuring instruments Recommend improvements to tooling design, materials, or processes Assist in root-cause analysis when tooling affects efficiency or output Required Skills & Experience: Prior Tool & Die Maker or equivalent tooling experience Ability to read blueprints including datum references and tolerances Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) Experience setting up and operating CNC equipment Strong shop math skills (including trigonometry) Experience with calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and precision measurement tools Experience troubleshooting production tooling in a manufacturing environment High school diploma or equivalent Ideal Background: Candidates are especially successful if they come from: Metal stamping or forming operations Aerospace component manufacturing Precision machining environments Medical device or high-tolerance production shops Work Environment: Production manufacturing floor Hands-on tooling work Collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams Multiple shift schedules available Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly compensation Full benefits package Long-term stability in a production manufacturing environment Important Notes: This position requires on-site work in the San Diego area Sponsorship is not available for this role How to Apply: Please apply directly with an updated resume.
