Principal Engineer

Job Title: Principal Engineer Location: Fort Mill, SC Job Type: Direct Placement Shift: First Shift (Day Shift) Job Summary: As a Principal Engineer, you will lead innovation in the design, development, and optimization of advanced solar cell technologies. This role provides technical leadership within the Cell Technology Division, driving efficiency, performance, and sustainability across next-generation solar products. You will collaborate closely with R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams to take new technologies from concept through production. Key Responsibilities: Lead research and development initiatives in solar cell technologies Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, performance, and manufacturability Define and implement technical strategies aligned with organizational goals Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Production, and Quality teams Manage and oversee projects from concept through production launch Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies into cell design and processes Ensure projects meet technical, quality, and timeline requirements Communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders Nice to Have: Experience with high-efficiency or next-generation solar technologies Background working in manufacturing-scale environments Exposure to sustainability or advanced materials research Education & Experience: Master's degree in electrical engineering, Materials Science, or related field PhD preferred 7+ years of experience in photovoltaic or solar cell R&D Proven track record of new technology development and implementation Experience managing projects and transitioning technology into production Prior experience in a Principal Engineer or leadership role strongly preferred Required Skills & Qualifications: Deep expertise in solar cell technologies or closely related technologies Advanced understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and performance optimization Strong ability to drive innovation and adopt emerging photovoltaic technologies Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading or mentoring engineering teams Ability to inspire teams toward ambitious technical goals Experience operating at a Principal / Senior Engineering level
