We provide multiple delivery systems in design-build, bid-build, public/private-partnerships and design-build finance. The Estimating Internship at Hubbard Construction Company supports the preconstruction team by analyzing blueprints, performing material takeoffs, and calculating project costs (labor, materials, equipment) for construction bids. Key Duties. Quantity Takeoffs: Manually or digitally calculating material quantities from plans. Bid Assistance: Assisting in preparing cost estimates, bids, and proposal documents. Software Usage: Using tools like Tekla or specialized estimating software to build cost models. Document Review: Reading blueprints, specifications, and contracts to understand project scope. Subcontractor Outreach: Soliciting and leveling (comparing) subcontractor proposals. Other duties as assigned. General. Students must be enrolled in a college or university pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Management is required. Excellent math skills required. Strong organizational skills a must. Excellent computer skills are a must (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint). Experience with SAP a plus. Must be able to understand and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees. Strong communication skills (both verbal & written). Familiarity or an internship with construction industry practices preferred. Physical Demands. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an Estimating Intern to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Periodic physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day. Employee must be able to periodically stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Key Duties. Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 25 pounds personally and the ability to carry up to 15 pounds personally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Continuous mental attention required to complete tasks in an efficient manner. Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that an Estimating Intern encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is performed predominately indoors, although periodic visits to construction sites or asphalt manufacturing facilities may be required.
