Combining native coastal rough, rolling fairways, spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, and undulating greens, this golf course is sure to take your breath away. Designed by Robert Trent "Bobby" Jones Jr., the back nine was originally opened in 1978. Then, in 1987, the front nine was added to complete the full 18. Extensive renovations were completed in 2008, where all 18 greens were stripped of the poa annua grass, bentgrass was added, and over 96 bunkers were reconstructed. Overall, the course conditions were greatly improved and The Links at Bodega Harbour is the best it's ever been. Position Summary: Under the supervision of the General Manager, this position will assist in the daily operations management in all areas of the Facility. The Assistant General Manager (AGM) role will oversee all golf shop and outside services operations and is responsible for ensuring that all guests receive outstanding customer service, which meets or exceeds their expectations. The AGM is instrumental in developing and/or implementing strategies, golf events and golf programs designed to improve the Club's products and services as well as its competitive position in the marketplace. Additionally, he/she is accountable for achieving budgeted financial goals relative to the operations for which he/she is responsible. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Implement applicable Company operating, human resources, and safety policies and procedures pertaining to golf shop, outside services, and caddy program activities. Ensure procedures are followed to open, close and secure the golf shop and storage buildings. Handle cash flow in the golf shop, ensuring that cash and credit card charges balance with sales receipts in accordance with operating procedures. Plan and schedule work duties of department personnel. Monitor performance to ensure customer service standards and productivity goals are achieved. Keep overtime hours to a minimum. Coordinate and oversee the caddy program with all golfers to ensure guest satisfaction. Establish a feedback form, monitor evaluations and implement improvements as appropriate. Ensure that the golf shop, storage areas, cart shed, and grounds are maintained per Company cleanliness and appearance standards. Maintain clean, presentable and fully stocked merchandise displays. Assist in the preparation and implementation of operating and capital budgets. Provide assistance with financial forecasts and analyzing budget variances. Monitor purchase orders to ensure that merchandise orders are recorded with proper quantities and prices. Take physical inventory at month end in accordance with inventory procedures. Ensure accurate tracking of types and quantity of golf rounds played. Monitor customer preferences, usage patterns, and satisfaction with Company products and services. Assess the quality of internal and/or external customer service and speed of play. Recommend plans for continued improvement. Interact with guests in a congenial and professional manner. Maintain pleasant and professional telephone manner at all times. Schedule tee times and handle customer inquiries and/or complaints in accordance with operating policies and procedures. Ensure all phone calls are handled before the third ring. Plan and conduct individual and group lesson programs and golf clinics. Work with golf associations and other groups to schedule tournaments and group outings. Ensure organization and efficient operation and coordination of golf shop, cart service and food & beverage activities. Be fully knowledgeable of golf shop merchandise. Sell merchandise and/or provide suggestions to patrons as appropriate to meet their needs. Design and implement sales incentive programs for golf shop staff. Monitor results and recommend modifications to achieve budgeted retail sales goals. Ensure that ancillary services including, but not limited to, the handicapping system, guest programs and driving range facilities are efficiently organized and meet customer needs. Manage employment activities for applicable staff members, including but not limited to, personnel recruitment and selection, performance evaluations, training, compensation, discipline and termination, etc. Assist the efficient and timely submission of all required operational, financial, budgetary reports. Maintain knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to golf industry periodicals and participation in relevant trade associations and organizations. Conduct orientation and training program for all snack shack and golf course staff. Perform additional duties as required. Qualifications: Three years' experience managing staff a plus Food and beverage sanitation certification preferred Must possess strong oral and written communication skills Will act as the main contact for marketing and promotions for the golf course Must possess working knowledge of snack shack, bar, and golf operations Strong knowledge of excel and possess good math skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs Skilled in F&B POS software Knowledge of inventory control Experience in leading and training staff Position Physical Requirements Must have the ability to: Read and write (English) Communicate verbally with staff members and/or customers with or without the use of two-way radios. Give and/or follow verbal and written instructions Supervise subordinates Visually inspect all work areas, golf course and grounds See players on the golf course, and to follow the flight of golf balls Perform mathematical calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages Retrieve, read and interpret information from technical sources Stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, bend and kneel for up to 5 hours at a time Lift up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs constantly Supervises: Golf and snack shack staff, some oversight of maintenance staff in conjunction with Director of Golf and Superintendent Classification: Full-time, Non-Seasonal, Salaried, Exempt Compensation: $70,000-$75,000 a year plus potential commission of $5,000, based on experience.
