Job Title: Java Architect Location: Bolingbrook, IL Type: Contract Industry: E-Commerce / Retail Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Java Architect with deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot Microservices, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join our enterprise architecture team. The ideal candidate will have experience in e-commerce and promotional systems, and a strong background in building scalable, high-performance microservices-based applications. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement scalable and resilient Java-based microservices using Spring Boot. Architect solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) leveraging native services (e.g., Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, GKE, Cloud SQL, Firestore). Provide architectural guidance for e-commerce platforms, specifically around promotions, discounts, loyalty systems, and related domains. Lead and mentor development teams in best practices for microservices, CI/CD, and cloud-native architecture. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, business analysts, and QA to deliver robust solutions. Ensure non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, security) are addressed in design and implementation. Conduct code and architecture reviews; recommend improvements and optimizations. Drive modernization initiatives and migration strategies to cloud-native infrastructure. Required Skills & Experience: 10+ years of professional software development experience. Strong expertise in Java 8+, Spring Boot, and RESTful API design. Proven experience building and scaling microservices architecture. Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services. Solid understanding of e-commerce platforms, with hands-on experience in implementing promotions, pricing rules, and cart engines. Proficiency with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes). Experience with message brokers such as Kafka or GCP Pub/Sub. Familiar with DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
