Network Planning Engineer (Fiber) Contract-to-Hire | Conshohocken, PA Our client's Transmission & Distribution practice is seeking a Network Planning Engineer (Fiber) to support a large-scale, multi-year fiber replacement and modernization program. This role will focus on planning, routing, and execution support for fiber rebuild projects that impact MPLS, SONET, and DWDM network topologies. The selected candidate will play a key role in guiding network architecture decisions, fiber routing strategies, and coordination between planning, design, and execution teams. This position offers strong exposure to utility-scale infrastructure projects and direct collaboration with client stakeholders. Key Responsibilities ssess existing and future transport solutions using design tools such as GIS, considering location type, substation size, and remote access requirements Participate in weekly fiber project reviews, quarterly network planning sessions, and coordination meetings Coordinate with GIS teams to document logical schematics and geographic network designs for MPLS, DWDM, and SONET systems Collaborate with network design engineering teams to integrate fiber plans into network design packages Provide technical guidance to design teams on transport solutions and network topology Coordinate fiber buildout plans with portfolio development leads to support schedule and budget development ssist with the creation and submission of Fiber Optic Work Requests (FOWR) Review fiber cost estimates and perform quality reviews of fiber design packages Evaluate fiber scope and estimation proposals for technical accuracy and constructability Support documentation of fiber initiatives, processes, and client deliverables, including process updates and "How To" guides Participate in site visits to assess existing substation control house conditions and confirm new equipment needs Perform field investigations of distribution lines along proposed fiber routes, as required Required Qualifications Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience combinations: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) and minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience (consulting preferred), or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or related Engineering Technology (ABET-accredited), successful completion of the FE exam, and minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience (consulting preferred), or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering and minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience (consulting preferred) dditional Requirements: Prior utility experience and/or fiber network design experience is required Self-starter with a strong desire to learn and grow as a network engineer Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities bility to apply diversified engineering principles to broad and complex assignments Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage large volumes of technical information Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with GIS-based design environments, including ESRI tools such as rcGIS Pro and/or FME Aspen Technical Staffing CELEBRATING 25 YEARS ~2001-2026~ We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
