Join our team at The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD ("The Harris Center") as a Licensed Therapist (LPHA) with our Forensic Clinical Court Interview Unit (FCCIU) . We're seeking a dedicated professional who will revolutionize the way we provide clinical services.Under the general direction of the Clinical Team Leader, the LPHA performs clinical activities such as routine assessments, crisis and /or service interventions as directed by the treatment plan and/or identified consumer need(s). This position may provide monitoring, clinical supervision and training of other unlicensed staff. Services are provided at the Harris County Courts and Harris County Jail. This position may require flexible hours, on-call duty and coverage. The Forensic Court Clinical Interview Unit (FCCIU) perform mental health screenings as an early identification tool for individuals who are involved in the criminal justice system and are suspected of having a mental illness or intellectual disability (as outlined in Article 16.22 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure). When there is reasonable cause to believe that the defendant has a behavioral illness or is a person with intellectual disability, the magistrate will order a clinical interview, completed by the FCCIU, so they are able to make well-informed bond decisions and connect defendants to appropriate treatment options. FCCIU is a collaboration with Harris County Criminal Court at Law, District Courts, Pre-Trial Services, and TCOOMMI. Your Role In Action: 1. Performs clinical assessments needed to complete the 16.22 request and TCOOMMI Collection of Information Form. 2. Performs clinical assessments to evaluate the individual's need for service. 3. Evaluates nature of mental illness, addressing the symptom related problems interfering with the individual's functioning, the importance of medications, and other medication related information, as well as, other skills trainings with designated clinical staff (QMHP). 4. Staffs to facilitate optimal supervision in the performance of reporting and documentation. 5. Responsible for compliance with contract and agency mandatory training requirements and works collaboratively with the clinical trainer to identify and provide job related training. 6. Works assigned shift during disaster schedule rotation. 7. Demonstrates ethical conduct in all clinical and professional activities. 8. Complies with agency policies and procedures, accrediting/regulatory bodies and performance contract documentation requirements. 9. Complies with The HARRIS CENTER and Harris County Sheriff's Office policies and procedures, accrediting/regulatory bodies and performance contract documentation requirements. What qualifications you will need: Education : Master's degree (M.A.) from four-year accredited college or university with a major in a social, behavior, or human service field, including but not limited to: psychology, social work, counseling, sociology, human development, and educational psychology. Experience: Licenser credentials plus one to two years of clinical experience post Master's degree preferred. Other Key Qualifications Clinical license through the State of Texas for one of the following: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT. Must maintain a valid Texas Driver's License and be insurable under Agency policy. Knowledge/Skills & Ability : Strong diagnostic skills, the ability to incorporate patient history, symptoms, environmental and related issues to formulate proper diagnosis and treatment. Strong communication skills, listening and interpersonal skills above average, written documentation is clear, concise, and well- constructed. Effective time management and organizational skills. Able to execute standard word processing software on the computer.
