Salary: $30.31 - $36.84 Hourly Location : Oakdale, CA Job Type: Part-time Job Number: 20260219 Department: Oakdale Police Department Opening Date: 02/19/2026 Closing Date: 3/13/2026 4:30 PM Pacific DescriptionJOB SUMMARY: Performs administrative work in support of Police Department operations, functions and programs. Serves in an administrative assistant function to the Chief of Police or designee and performs a full range of administrative support services for the Chief and other Police personnel; and performs other duties as assigned. SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED:Receives supervision and direction from Chief of Police or designee. Assists in coordinating and communicating policies, procedures, and directives from the Chief of Police to all staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs a wide variety of professional, administrative, fiscal, and general support to the Chief of Police, sometimes of a confidential nature. Coordinates the maintenance of standards and training within the police department. Provides staff support to department management; facilitates and coordinates interdepartmental projects; provides general support for financial, operational and organizational issues; coordinates and manages assigned special projects. Ensures all and/or time sensitive reviews, reports, audits and inventories are completed. Coordinates training for agency personnel as needed. Enforce work deadlines as they apply to training and projects assigned. Liaisons with CA POST and ensures training and standards are maintained. Assists with generating and maintaining internal affairs, use of force, pursuit reviews, and other administrative records and reports. Assists with gathering information for annual budget. Assists with grant writing and grant management functions. Reviews existing administrative procedures in the area of assignment and initiates or recommends improvements. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies and associations, City management and staff, and the public. Provides investigative and auditing functions as needed. Assists in the selection and hiring of personnel. Performs related duties as required. Supervise, train and evaluate staff and processes as it relates to the standards and training of the police department at the direction of the Chief of Police or designee. Organize, prioritize and follow-up on work assignments. Serve as liaison between police department and California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training. Read, interpret and record data accurately. Prepare clear and concise administrative documents and reports; analyze, interpret, summarize and present a variety of fiscal, statistical and administrative reports in an effective manner. Research and analyze a variety of complex technical and administrative problems; make sound policy and procedural recommendations. Plan, initiate and complete work assignments with minimum direction. Properly interpret and make decisions in accordance with laws, regulations and policies. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Effectively use a variety of departmental computer and computer-related equipment. Recommend improvements in departmental operations and in the rules, regulations and policies. Base decisions and actions on maintaining and improving organizational standards. Knowledge of:Modern police practices, techniques and methods. Principles and practices of organization, budget, systems management and personnel management. Technical and administrative phases of law enforcement including investigation and identification, record keeping, and care and custody of persons and property. Pertinent federal, state and local laws and ordinances, particularly with reference to apprehension, arrest, search and seizure, traffic and evidence. Police department rules, regulations and procedures. Modern office procedures, and methods including computer equipment, word processing, spread sheet, graphic presentations and other needed software applications, as well as internet and electronic communication usage and methods. California Peace Officer Standards and Training regulations. Experience and/or Education:Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Five years of professional law enforcement experience, with at least one year in a leadership capacity being desirable. Equivalent to a high school graduate, Completion of 30 college units or honorable discharge from U.S, Armed Forces desirable. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Possession of a valid California driver's license; Possession of P.O.S.T. basic, intermediate, advanced, and supervisory certificates desirable.
