GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB At Stancil Services, the finish stage of plumbing is where craftsmanship becomes visible and customer-ready. The Trim 2nd Man - Plumbing supports the trim/finish phase by installing fixtures, preparing materials, assisting with finish plumbing tasks, and ensuring all work meets Stancil's standards for quality, accuracy, and presentation. This position is ideal for someone with basic plumbing knowledge who is detail-oriented and eager to grow into higher-level trim and finish roles. The Trim 2nd Man works closely with the Trim Foreman, supporting daily tasks to ensure clean, efficient, and professional final installations. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Assist in the installation of plumbing trim and finish fixtures including faucets, toilets, sinks, tubs, showers, valves, and accessories. Prepare and stage materials, tools, and parts required for daily trim operations. Support the Trim Foreman by completing assigned finish plumbing tasks according to specifications and company standards. Install supply lines, traps, stop valves, and other finish components under supervision. Ensure fixtures are level, aligned, properly secured, and function correctly. Perform basic testing of newly installed fixtures to identify leaks or performance issues. Maintain a clean and organized workspace to support efficient trim operations. Assist with punch list work including adjustments, corrections, or minor repairs. Protect finished surfaces, cabinetry, tile, countertops, and other materials during installation. Use hand and power tools safely and effectively after training. Help track material quantities and communicate shortages to the Trim Foreman. Follow all Stancil safety expectations, including proper PPE use and hazard reporting. Communicate field updates, delays, or issues promptly to the Trim Foreman. Ensure that installations meet field reference guides. Other related duties as assigned. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING High school diploma or equivalent (GED, college, technical or trade school transcript, or foreign equivalent). Prior plumbing or construction experience preferred; trim or finish plumbing experience a plus. Basic understanding of plumbing materials, fittings, fixtures, and installation tools. Ability to follow instructions, read simple diagrams, and understand basic measurements. Detail-oriented approach with the ability to install finish fixtures cleanly and professionally. Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment. Physical ability to perform repetitive installation tasks and lift materials. Valid driver's license for 3+ years and insurable under company insurance policy. Willingness to pursue further skill development and training. STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE Maintain high workmanship quality in all trim and finish installations. Demonstrate accuracy, cleanliness, and attention to detail during fixture installation. Follow direction from the Trim Foreman and ask questions when clarification is needed. Maintain productivity while meeting safety and quality standards. Communicate respectfully and professionally with coworkers and supervisors. Protect jobsite finishes and ensure installations present a polished, customer-ready appearance. WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS Work is performed on active construction sites during the finish phase. Exposure to indoor and outdoor conditions including heat above 90°F, cold below 32°F, dust, and humidity. Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting, and reaching. Must be able to lift and carry up to 75+ pounds. Work may occur in small spaces, bathrooms, utility rooms, and areas with limited access. Noise levels may range from moderate to loud. Requires adherence to PPE requirements and Stancil safety procedures. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT Hand tools: adjustable wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, tape measures, levels, basin wrenches, utility knives. Power tools: drills, impacts, saws (after appropriate training), jackhammer, camera, plumbing (hydro) jetter, sewer auger. Finish plumbing tools: supply line tools, trap kits, trim kits, caulking tools. Jobsite equipment: ladders, carts, and material-handling devices. Required PPE: hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, boots, hearing protection. Company-issued technology as needed for communication or documentation.
