Location: School-Based | Preschool Population Schedule: Weekdays | 40 Hours/Week Contract Length: 16 Weeks (Guaranteed through current & next school year) Start Date: ASAP Interview: Client Interview Required Compensation : $2,400/week Position Summary Amergis is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to support preschool-aged students in a school-based setting. Under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), the SLPA will assist in delivering high-quality speech and language interventions, documentation, education, and treatment activities in alignment with the individualized plan of care. This is a full-time, on-site position at a single school location, offering an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in an early childhood education environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Implement components of the speech and language program as designed by the supervising SLP and physician. Clearly identify oneself as an SLPA to families, students, and staff. Assist the SLP with speech, language, and hearing screenings (without clinical interpretation). Support assessments administratively and operationally (excluding test administration/interpretation). Provide bilingual translation during screening and assessment activities (exclusive of interpretation). Document student performance accurately and submit reports to the SLP in a timely manner. Program and assist with instruction in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices. Demonstrate SLP-directed feeding strategies, as permitted by state regulations. Adapt educational materials or equipment to support individual student needs. Assist with clerical tasks: scheduling, materials preparation, and organizational activities. Maintain and clean therapy equipment per manufacturer guidelines. Report any changes in student condition or reaction to treatment to the supervising SLP immediately. Participate in conferences or team meetings only when accompanied by the supervising SLP. Support emergency response teams needing information related to communication/swallowing disorders. Perform additional duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Associate degree from an SLPA program or bachelor's in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders. Minimum 100 hours of supervised fieldwork or clinical equivalent. Current SLPA licensure/certification in the state of practice. One (1) year of SLPA experience preferred. Successful completion of Amergis competency evaluation and site-specific training. Current CPR certification (if applicable). TB screening, PPD, or chest X-ray per requirements. Current health certificate per state or contract regulations. Strong communication skills and proficiency in English. Basic computer proficiency. Must meet all federal, state, and local regulatory standards. Must be at least 18 years old.
