Salary: $17.31 - $18.89 Hourly Location : Appleton, WI Job Type: Seasonal Job Number: 2603460 Department: Land Conservation Opening Date: 02/25/2026 Typical Work Hours/Shift:: Daytime hours Monday-Friday with comp time possibilities Outagamie County Core Values Invested in Serving Better Together Create Progress Support Through Compassion Position Purpose The Outagamie County Land Conservation Department is seeking an Intern to assist with soil and water conservation projects. This position is a temporary seasonal position. This position will report directly to the Deputy Director. This is a seasonal internship position and doesn't have benefits. Hours are daytime Monday-Friday hours Daytime hours Monday-Friday with comp time possibilities Key ResponsibilitiesProvide assistance to agronomy staff with implementing soil health grants. Assist with the installation, maintenance, and data collection of Soil Health demonstration plots. Scout fields for progress and verification of conservation/soil health practices. Assist with mapping of Nutrient Management Plans. Assist with operation of Departmental farm machinery. Other support duties as assigned. Education/Certifications/Experience RequirementsGraduation from high school or completion of a G.E.D. Candidate should be enrolled in a degree program related to agriculture and/or natural resources. Agronomy or soils coursework preferred. Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain Must be 18 years old or older Required or Preferred Skills Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite. Possess excellent writing and verbal communication skills. Good analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work independently and maintain regular attendance. Experience maintaining/operating farm machinery, preferred. Experience operating pickup trucks and trailers, preferred. UTV/ATV certification. May be completed upon hire. This position requires the ability to perform fieldwork in a variety of outdoor conditions. Duties may involve walking over uneven terrain, standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling equipment or materials weighing up to 50 lbs pounds. The employee may also be required to use hand tools and operate light equipment.
