The following is a list of qualifications for the position, any one of which may be waived by the Board in exercising its prerogative to determine qualifications. DUTIES BEING APPROXIMATELY FEBRUARY Preparation between February and June including research, program logistics planning, sharing updates with administrators, hiring staff and meeting with lead principal and curriculum coordinators. During the program, full day administrator duties ensure a safe and effective program - similar duties to school year principal role. Attend and present during staff and family orientation meeting. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Masters degree from an accredited institution. Documentation of systematic study of secondary school organization and curriculum, as well as growth and development of the secondary school student. 3+ years of successful secondary teaching experience. Successful secondary administrative experience and/or at the district leadership level is preferred but not required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an administrative team. Previous experience leading secondary summer school recommended. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate in the area of Secondary Education. Possess or be in process of obtaining valid administrator certification. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Begin planning for summer school implementation in February. Monitor and utilize achievement data for assessment of student progress and program effectiveness; provide a summary report upon completion of summer school. Interview, recommend for employment, supervise, and evaluate all components of secondary summer school staff. Coordinate necessary administrative services for secondary summer school (data processing, maintenance of appropriate records, budget, material and supply acquisitions, etc.). This includes budgeting and collecting of monies for fees and supplies. Respond to inquiries pertaining to the summer school program during the regular school year. Ensure credits required to complete graduation are appropriately recorded on senior transcripts. Oversee middle school curriculum enhancement. Coordinate enhancements to curriculum with Curriculum Coordinators (Math, Language Arts), Project Lead the Way, Science, and Social Studies Work closely with middle school lead teachers during curriculum development. Provide professional development to all summer school staff regarding climate and instructional culture expectations as well as effective instructional practices. Monitor budget parameters and expenses not to exceed allocation. Maintain close communication with Lead Principal and Assistant Superintendent. Monitor weekly achievement targets, pre/post assessments and state standards as well as student attendance. Implement school discipline policy as it pertains to the assignment. Establish and coordinate professional development and orientation sequence prior to implementation. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
