Maintenance Technician Lead

The OpportunityThe Maintenance Technician is required to perform the multi-level maintenance and repair of molding equipment. The role provides support to the execution of the production schedule by performing mold changes, set-ups, and start-ups in the plastics department. The position will require competencies that include molding, tooling, quality inspection, and machining. In the absence of the Technical Manager, this position reports to the General Manager.How you will impact Smurfit Westrock: Perform all work in accordance with the highest standards of Smurfit Westrock-Vitop safety policies, ensure all safety policies and processes are enforced. Perform all maintenance functions, including but not limited to preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on all molding equipment. Perform problem-solving to develop corrective actions for quality control issues or initiate continuous improvement. Assist with root cause analysis to determine quality control issues. Participate in and assist with the mold maintenance training program. Coordinate tooling and equipment availability, repair, and maintenance. Ensure cleanliness and maintains safe work environment within mold shop. Respond to problems by performing corrective technical or mechanical solutions. Participate in continuous improvement of molding equipment and processes. Assist with documentation on mold changes that can be used to control traceability and ensure reproducibility. Follow established procedures in order to maintain a clean and organized environment. Adhere to lock-out tag-out policy and procedures. Work with all departments to meet daily tasks. Perform all duties safely and efficiently. Other duties as assigned. What you need to succeed: Completion of technical diploma from an accredited vocational/technical institute or equivalent work experience. 4-7 years of experience as a machinist and mold setter or experience in related field. Technical Knowledge Skills & Experience with the Injection Molding process. Extensive experience with hand tools, milling machine, and lathe machine is required. Experience operating overhead cranes. Must be proficient in MS Office Knowledge of safety practices and expectations. Knowledge of quality practices and expectations, and respect for product. Knowledge of Injection Molding hot runner systems. Ability to effectively communicate. Extensive Knowledge of OSHA requirements and Lockout/Tag-out Procedures. Strong Knowledge of Safety ,5S, LEAN /TPS Toyota Production System a plus. Understanding standard work (SOP/u2019s). Understands and follows Company/u2019s quality and corporate/environmental policies. Understands and follows procedures and work instructions established by Smurfit Westrock - Vitop, USA. Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively and ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions. Ability to read and interpret blue prints Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include off-shift hours and weekend assignments. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule from Management/Supervision.
