DESCRIPTION: Join our Utilities Team as a Building Maintenance Technician I, where you'll contribute to maintaining and operating essential site functions. You'll work with advanced systems including wastewater treatment, energy centers, manufacturing facilities, and laboratory utilities. Operating through both manual and computerized systems, you'll manage critical infrastructure such as water systems, HVAC, cooling towers, and compressed air systems while ensuring compliance with cGMP procedures and regulatory requirements. This position offers the opportunity to develop expertise across multiple technical areas while contributing to our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. REQUIREMENTS: HS Diploma or Equivalent Education required. No prior experience required. Preferred: No prior experience required Must work towards obtaining a D-level Wastewater license within 2 years of employment Experience with computerized control systems (Honeywell, PCR2, Wonderware) Knowledge of boiler-water and cooling tower water chemistry Ability to obtain and maintain various materials handling equipment certifications Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) Experience in chemical processing or pharmaceutical environment preferred Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays Analytical problem-solving skills and methodical approach to technical challenges Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols Strong communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and government regulations Physical requirements include standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and manual dexterity Must successfully complete Utility Operator Training program within first year Ability to work in environments with occasional exposure to chemical substances Demonstrated understanding of cGMP and pharmaceutical processes Thermo Fisher Scientific is an EEO/Affirmative Action Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability or any other legally protected status.
