Job Title: Inventory Cycle CounterDepartment: Warehouse / Distribution Reports To: Warehouse Manager / Operations Manager Position Summary The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring material integrity within an aluminum extrusion warehouse and distribution operation. This role supports production, shipping, and customer fulfillment by managing inventory accuracy, cycle counting, system transactions, and continuous improvement of inventory processes. This position plays a critical role in minimizing inventory discrepancies, improving material flow, and supporting on-time delivery. Key ResponsibilitiesInventory Accuracy & Control Maintain accurate inventory levels for aluminum extrusions, fabricated parts, finished goods, and packaging materials Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts; investigate and resolve discrepancies Reconcile physical inventory to ERP system and initiate adjustments as required Support annual physical inventory counts and audits Receiving & Material Movement Verify incoming material quantities, dimensions, and condition against purchase orders and documentation Ensure proper labeling, tagging, and location assignment of materials Monitor material movement between extrusion, paint, fabrication, and warehouse locations Ensure FIFO and lot control practices are followed where applicable Systems & Documentation Enter and maintain accurate inventory transactions in ERP system Generate inventory reports and provide analysis to warehouse and operations leadership Maintain documentation for inventory procedures, adjustments, and root cause investigations Process Improvement & Compliance Identify root causes of inventory variances and recommend corrective actions Support continuous improvement initiatives related to material flow, storage, and inventory accuracy Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company policies Participate in 5S and warehouse organization efforts Cross-Functional Support Work closely with warehouse, production, purchasing, and shipping teams Support customer order fulfillment by ensuring material availability and accuracy Assist with special projects as assigned Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred 2+ years of inventory control experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment Experience working with ERP system Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to read work orders, packing lists, and material specifications Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory reporting tools Preferred Qualifications Experience in aluminum extrusion, metals, or heavy manufacturing environments Knowledge of dimensional inventory, lengths, alloys, and finishes Forklift certification or ability to become certified Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs Occasional overtime as business needs require Competencies Detail-oriented and process-driven Strong problem-solving skills Effective communicator and team collaborator Self-motivated with the ability to work independently Benefits: 401(k) - with a match Health insurance (PPO plans) Dental/Vision Insurance STD/LTD Company-paid Life Insurance Voluntary Life Insurance for employees, spouses, and children Accident and Critical Illness Paid time off
