EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Psychiatrist (On Call) Announcement Number 25-15 Job Code Z6400 Employment Type Full-Time Job Location Mary Starke Harper Geriatric Psychiatry Center Tuscaloosa, Alabama Salary/Pay Rate Salary Range ($243,480.48 - $370,484.16 Annually). Additional Salary Information Salary will be commensurate with experience. Limitations apply to current State employees. Open Date 10/31/2025 Close Date Until Filled Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an approved school of medicine. Successful completion of a residency program in psychiatry as approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and recognized by the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association. Must be board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Note: If these minimum qualifications cannot be met, the application may be considered for a Psychiatrist I position. Psychiatrist I (Z6300) - Salary Range $226,096.80 - $344,033.52: Graduation from an approved school of medicine. Successful completion of a residency program in psychiatry as approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and recognized by the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association. Must be board-eligible in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Must be eligible for or possess a license as issued by the Alabama State Board of Medical Examiners. Key Responsibilities • Serves as the treatment team leader in evaluating, implementing, reviewing, and updating treatment plans for individual patients and groups of patients. • Functions as the primary psychotherapist responsible for the treatment and evaluation of individual and group patients. • Selects, prescribes, adjusts, and reviews medications for patients. • Conducts comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including mental status examinations and annual assessments as needed. • Prepares written documentation including mental status and psychiatric evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and reports • Provides psychiatric opinion and consultation. • Serves as psychiatric OD on a rotational basis. Employment Announcement EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) • Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations to include The Joint Commission, Alabama Medicaid Agency, and other regulatory agencies. • Knowledge of mental conditions such as psychosis and behavioral disorders. • Knowledge of pharmacology / psychopharmacology such as anti-psychotics and psychotropics. • Knowledge of treatment strategies. • Knowledge of psychological principles needed to implement into a program of treatment for clients. • Ability to make clinical assessments, interprets responses both verbal and non-verbal, gathers clinical data, and diagnoses illnesses. • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. • Ability to work with other professionals and community agencies in a courteous and professional manner. • Ability to work with geriatric patients. • High moral and ethical character required for licensure. Necessary Special Requirements • Must be eligible for or possess a license as issued by the Alabama State Board of Medical Examiners.
