Dept: Acute Care Units-Swat-Rapid Response Hours per pay period: 72 Schedule: Variable Position Summary: Registered nurse who functions as the hospital wide Rapid Respond and SWAT Nurse responding to Acute Care Unit requests for urgent or emergent patient care needs. Provides emergency response as needed based on specific unit needs, patient activity and crisis situations of an intermittent nature. Great opportunity for the next step into a leadership role. PICC line training will be included with this position. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Responds to medical emergency problems including Code Blue, Rapid Responses, and Code MTP's. S upports floor staff concerns regarding patient decline/clinical assessment. The RN will demonstrate the ability to quickly assess a patient when there has been a change in status and help to monitor and provide patient interventions as required. Accompanies Acute Care patients when they must be transported within the hospital (ex. MRI/CT, diagnostic testing, IR, floor to ICU transfers) Assist s floor staff with difficult IV starts utilizing ultrasound guided IV placement as needed. Provides insertion, care and maintenance for patients requiring Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC): inserted into basilic, brachial, or cephalic vein, Examples include, but not limited to the following: PICC, Power PICC®, and Midline Catheters. Assists with Admission and Discharges from Emergency Department to Acute Care Units to facilitate patient experience and throughput. Active participant in Code Blue Committee including performing audits and action plans required for this committee. Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing , holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan. ACLS certification BLS certification Five (5) years' experience in C ritical C are/ER setting Preferred: Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC) Education/Training Ultrasound Guided IV insertion experience. CCRN certification TNCC certification
