Overview: Work Schedule: Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday shifts. No overnight work required. Start Time: Early mornings between 12 AM and 1 AM, completing the work by 11 AM or shortly thereafter. Experience: Minimum 1 year of verifiable CDL experience operating heavy trucks, specifically rear load types in a waste management context. Essential Job Summary: Safely operate rear-load garbage trucks for the pick-up of waste and recyclable materials. Transport materials to designated facilities, making multiple trips if necessary. Manual and automatic trucks are both used. Physical requirements include repeatedly lifting up to 50 pounds and maneuvering up to 100 pounds, in addition to mounting and dismounting the truck frequently during routes. Essential Job Functions: To excel in this role, an individual must meet the following: Ability to navigate through congested and confined city areas safely. Proficient in backing maneuvers. Regularly climb in and out of the truck cab to service accounts. Perform pre and post-trip inspections; ensure compliance with safety standards, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws. Requirements and Qualifications: Must be 21 years or older and legally eligible to work in the United States. Valid Class A or B CDL with airbrake endorsement required. 1 year of CDL driving experience within the last 7 years. Maintain a great safety record and clean motor vehicle report (MVR). Previous experience as a driver or helper in a waste management company is highly preferred. Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations is essential. Ability to read and speak English fluently to communicate effectively and understand road signs. Familiarity with using maps for route navigation. Physical and safety requirements met for the position. Willingness to work as required under DOT regulations, which may include weekends, nights, and holidays.
