Job Description Busy and successful manufacturing company is looking for a Production Lead for their 2nd shift. Must have past experience in manufacturing - ideally in an environment with machine operators and general assembly. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who is able to lead, mentor, train and be a resource for the team. (Shop is clean and air conditioned!) RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PRODUCTION LEAD: Maintains a positive work atmosphere by communicating in a professional manner with customers, suppliers, coworkers and management. Functions as a liaison between production and other departments. Assigns personnel to production work centers based on employee qualification and availability. Plans sequence of manufacturing operations for production personnel when Production Scheduler not present. Contributes to a safe working environment by addressing any unsafe behavior and correcting and/or reporting any unsafe conditions. Addresses minor employee issues. Provides input for employee appraisals. Monitors work order status (location of material and estimated time to completion). Coordinates production with Scheduler to insure that completed orders are shipped on time. Provides back-up for Material Handler during lead hours. Holds team accountable for safety, Quality, Productivity and Efficiency targets Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and able to , suggesting process improvements Requirements QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PRODUCTION LEAD: One year certificate from college or technical school; or 2+years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Maintains computer proficiency on PC using company's chosen software products and on in-house systems as applicable to position responsibilities. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate in written form and document observations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
