Blood Bank Technologist - Evening Shift | New Brunswick, NJ (Travel Contract) Blood Bank Technologist - Join our Transfusion Services team in New Brunswick, NJ. Evening shift travel contract supporting Level 1 Trauma, neonatal, transplant, and adult patients. Ideal for Medical Laboratory Technologists, Clinical Laboratory Scientists (MLS/MT/MLT) with strong blood bank expertise. Key Job Details Location: New Brunswick, NJ 08901 - New Jersey blood bank job with easy access to NYC and Philadelphia Estimated Weekly Salary: $1810-$1940/week Setting: Hospital Blood Bank / Transfusion Service (Level 1 Trauma Center) Employment Type: Travel Contract (13 weeks) Start / End Date: March 23, 2026 - June 22, 2026 Shift: Evenings, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM (5x8-hour shifts per week; 40 hours/week) Weekend & Holiday Coverage: Must be available for weekends as needed and 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract Required Qualifications (Blood Bank / Transfusion Specialist) Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field with 1 year of clinical rotations in a Medical Technology program (required) Minimum 4 years of recent, dedicated Blood Bank experience (Blood Bank Generalist experience does not qualify) Active New Jersey license or Compact state license required at time of submission ASCP certification preferred (MLS, MT, MLT, or BB) Experience supporting Level 1 Trauma and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) patients highly preferred Familiarity with SoftBank and EPIC systems preferred Strong knowledge of blood banking theory, transfusion protocols, and regulatory standards Flexible schedule and ability to float within skillset to support hospital operations Primary Responsibilities Perform comprehensive Blood Bank and Transfusion Service testing, including complex antibody identification, elution, and emergency release protocols Conduct crossmatching, antibody screening and identification, antigen typing, and transfusion reaction workups for trauma, neonatal, transplant, and adult patients Operate and troubleshoot specialized equipment (e.g., gel methodology, Ortho Vision analyzers) Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure timely and safe transfusion support Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory and safety requirements Support departmental workflow and cover required functions during high-volume and emergency situations This opportunity is ideal for Clinical Laboratory Scientists, Medical Laboratory Technologists, and Blood Bank Technologists seeking short-term travel assignments in New Jersey.
