Benefits:401(k)Dental insuranceHealth insurancePaid time offVision insurancePosition SummaryThe Medical & Hazardous Waste Hauler (Class C) is responsible for the safe, compliant collection and transportation of regulated medical waste, hazardous waste, and universal waste from customer facilities to permitted transfer, treatment, or disposal facilities within California. This position operates non-CDL vehicles and requires strict compliance with the California Medical Waste Management Act (MWMA), California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), Cal/OSHA, and applicable DOT regulations.Key ResponsibilitiesTransportation & OperationsSafely operate company Class C (non-CDL) vehicles in accordance with company policy and California vehicle codesPerform scheduled waste pickups from healthcare facilities, laboratories, veterinary clinics, assisted living facilities, and commercial customersLoad, secure, and transport regulated waste in compliance with Title 22 CCR, MWMA, and company proceduresDeliver waste to permitted transfer stations, treatment facilities, or disposal sitesMaintain route efficiency while adhering to regulatory and safety requirementsCompliance & DocumentationAccurately complete and maintain California medical waste tracking documents, hazardous waste manifests (when applicable), and internal chain-of-custody recordsVerify waste characterization, labeling, container integrity, and segregation prior to transportComply with CDPH Medical Waste Management Act, DTSC hazardous waste regulations, Cal/OSHA standards, and DOT 49 CFR as applicable to Class C operationsUse electronic manifesting and routing systems when requiredSafety & EquipmentConduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in compliance with company and California safety standardsProperly wear and maintain required PPE (gloves, protective clothing, eye protection, etc.)Follow company spill response and exposure control plans in accordance with Cal/OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (8 CCR §5193)Immediately report spills, exposures, accidents, or compliance concernsCustomer InteractionProvide professional, courteous service at customer locationsCommunicate discrepancies, access issues, or compliance concerns to dispatch or managementRepresent the company in a professional and compliant manner at all timesRequired QualificationsValid California Class C driver’s licenseClean driving record and ability to meet insurance requirementsAbility to pass background check, drug screening, and physical as requiredAbility to regularly lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbsWillingness to complete required California medical waste and hazardous waste trainingPreferred QualificationsExperience handling regulated medical waste or hazardous waste in CaliforniaFamiliarity with CDPH, DTSC, and MWMA requirementsExperience completing California medical waste tracking documents or hazardous waste manifestsHazMat awareness training (company-provided if needed)Physical & Work EnvironmentFrequent lifting, bending, standing, and walkingExposure to regulated medical and hazardous waste with proper PPE and trainingIndoor and outdoor work environments, including healthcare and industrial facilitiesCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive hourly pay based on experienceOvertime opportunitiesPaid training and required regulatory certificationsCompany-provided PPE, uniforms, and equipmentPaid time off and benefits package (where applicable)
